Creating My Dream Living Room

Hello all, and welcome back! Yes, I am back today with the next part of this little “series” if you will, of creating and decorating my dream spaces. Last week, we kicked it off by creating my dream kitchen, and this week, I’m sure the title gave it away, but I’ll be sharing what my dream living room would look like. Of course, this one will be a bit shorter since it’s more about decorating than a “build” like when creating a kitchen where you’re thinking about cabinets, hardware, countertops & all of those fun things. Alright, enough of my blabbing, let’s look at what my dream living room space would look like!

Collage of items to create my dream living room.

Planter

If you ask me, no room should ever be without a plant. Even if you’re not a very good plant-parent, there’s tons of options out there for easy to care for houseplants. It really livens up a space & makes things feel more alive. Of course, it would need to go in a beautiful planter as well!

Samsung Frame TV

I don’t think this needs much explanation. Who wouldn’t love one of these TVs? I love that you can set it up like it’s framed art when you’re not using it & set custom wallpapers.

Accent Chair

I’ve actually seen this chair pop up on the Instagram stories of a few people that I follow & I think it’s so gorgeous! I love how neutral it is, with the natural wood arms & legs. I’d style this with a big, soft pillow (much like item number 5), with a throw blanket draped over it (like item number 6!).

Area Rug

As far as I’m concerned, nothing makes a space cozier than a big area rug. Since we brought home Freddie, we took up our rug from under the couch in our living room & I’ve found the space doesn’t feel nearly as cozy as it used to.

Coffee Table

A large, sturdy coffee table is a must for me! Not only do I love to style it with coffee table books, plants & other decor, but when we (eventually) have friends & family over, it gives a spot for drinks, and other items to go.

Sectional Couch

This is the first time I’ve had a sectional, and I’ve got to say, I will never go back (provided I have the space!). It’s so nice to be able to put your feet up after a long day and it is more comfortable than on the coffee table. I’d style this sectional with lots of neutral coloured pillows in different textures & patterns to not only make it look cozier, but make it more comfortable too. Not to mention it can feel like more people will be able to fit on the couch… whenever we’re allowed to see friends & family again!

White Paint & Hardwood Floors

If you know me at all, or have ever seen how I like to decorate, it probably comes as no surprise to you that I would absolutely paint this room a warm white & have muted brownish-grey hardwood floors. Starting with a neutral base like this allows for so much more opportunity to switch it up seasonally, or if you start to get bored of your current decor.

Floor Lamp

And of course, you can’t forget a big floor lamp to warm & light up the space at night. This arched floor lamp not only matches with the rest of the brass hardware that I talked about in creating my dream kitchen, but also brings a bit of a modern look, while also looking classic with the white shade.

As much as I love how the kitchen design turned out, the vibe of this living room is so cute. Too bad I can’t just snap my fingers and make it all come to life, haha. Well, if you read all the way through this, thank you for reading, and I’ll see you (hopefully) again on Friday for a new post!
