My Favourite Ways to Refresh My Home

Though it might feel so far away still, spring is coming, and it’s coming soon! I’m so excited for some warmer weather, sunnier skies, and of course, refreshing my home from a warm & cozy cave, to a light & fresh space. There’s a few things that I like to use to keep refreshing my space every season (or holiday) more affordable, and if you ask me, or anyone really, these things can really transform a room. So, let’s jump into my favourite ways to refresh my home each season!

1. THROW BLANKET

The first place I like to start is looking all of the throw blankets around my home. In the cold winter months, I like to keep heavier, fuzzy blankets (usually white, to remind me of the snow) around the house, including across the bed and on the couch. It helps to make the room feel super cozy. But come spring, I like to swap out these more heavily used blankets for lighter, more decorative throw blankets. That being said, if your A/C is on full blast all summer like mine is, some heavy blankets are needed too!

2. DIGITAL PRINTS

One of the most affordable ways to switch up the art, and general feeling in your space is with digital prints! I use a combination of Jillian Harris’ digital prints (use code EMILY20 to save 20%!), and my very own digital prints, sold right here on my website! If you want to find an affordable way to print these prints, check out my blog post about it here.

3. FRESH FLOWERS

There is nothing, and I mean nothing that brightens up a space, or brings me more joy than fresh flowers, especially in the spring! My go-to choices are peonies, roses, hydrangeas and tulips!

4. THROW PILLOWS

Not only are throw pillows great for adding a pop of colour to your space (and an affordable way to change up the colours in a room too), but it’s also a great way to add dimension with different sized pillows, as well as texture with different fabrics & patterns.

5. LIGHTING

I am the first to admit, I definitely don’t switch up my lighting season-to-season, that’d be a bit much! But, a new light can really transform a space. I wish I could show you how different this room looked before we swapped out the chandelier.

6. COFFEE TABLE BOOK

Even though the name is “coffee table” books, I like to find other interesting ways to use these books to decorate a space including on book shelves, under vases with flowers and as monitor risers. Of course, they’re also a great addition on a coffee table!

7. NEW PLANTS

Ahhhh, the last and probably my most favourite way to welcome spring is bringing home new plants, especially in May when the garden centres open… but that’s getting a bit ahead of myself — I’m talking a good old houseplant like a snake plant, palm, etc. If real plants aren’t your thing (they didn’t used to be mine either!), fake are also great.

There you have it! My favourite ways to refresh the spaces in my home. Are there anythings you think I missed? Or do you do any of these things? Comment below! Until next time!
