Decorating Your Home on a Budget

Decorating your home — not something you realize is going to cost so much money until you start to do it. It doesn’t help either when we all follow these big influencers with their perfect homes, and we think “I wish my space looked like that”, or, at least I do. But, alas, I do not have the budget of the Jillian Harris’ or the Monika Hibbs’ of the world, so I’m left with trying to figure out exactly how to nicely decorate the spaces in my home, without breaking the bank (gotta leave myself something for all of those Jilly Boxes!). I want to share with you all in this post the tips I’ve come to learn on how to nicely decorate a space while on a tight budget!

Affordable Dupes

I think it’s safe to say we’ve all seen the infamous Gleaming Primrose Mirror from Anthropologie that just about every influencer under the sun has, yes? Well, did you know that there’s a dupe for it at Structube called the Pascale mirror and it only costs $300 CDN? There’s tons of dupes for expensive products like that out there, you just need to look for them!

Try DIYing It!

If you’re crafty & handy, have you thought about trying to DIY what you’re looking for? Or, maybe you want to DIY but aren’t sure where to start? Check out some YouTube videos to see if you can find what you’re looking for & I’m sure it’s out there! One channel I highly recommend for home decor DIYs is The Sorry Girls — they even make me feel like I could do a successful DIY project, and I don’t consider myself the most handy person to grace the earth, haha.

Shop at Affordable Stores

You may be thinking “uh… duh?”, but if you’re anything like me, sometimes I’ll get an idea in my head, or see a certain product that’s way out of my budget, and I get fixated on it & that’s all I want. That being said, I have no choice but to come down from that cloud & check out more affordable stores. There’s a reason everyone has that 8-spot Kallax Unit from IKEA! It’s affordable and doesn’t look bad at all! In fact, there’s tons of videos out there on how to improve those units by adding legs, and more, so if you’re not in love with that unit as it is, try DIYing it ;)

Check on Amazon

I am first to admit, as much as I like Amazon, I don’t necessarily like supporting Amazon (for various reasons, but mainly because I’d rather buy from a small business and I don’t think Jeff Bezos needs to be any richer), but sometimes there’s just no denying that you can find good stuff on Amazon for an affordable price. For example, I found this Dried Pampas Grass* on Amazon.

* Tip: If you purchase this pampas grass, put it in whatever vase you want, and then leave it outside somewhere safe to let the air fluff them up + it helps get rid of the weird smell!

Do you have any other tips or tricks on how you decorate your home within a strict budget? I know it can definitely be hard, especially when it comes to furniture that we sit on everyday (I cheaped out on my couch, and believe me, my back is absolutely paying for it), but there’s definitely other ways we can all save a little coin while making our spaces our own! If you have any tips, please feel free to share in the comments below, and I’ll hopefully see you all again next week for new blogs!
