The First Things I Want To Do After The Pandemic

Do you ever find yourself sitting at your desk, day dreaming about what you wish you could be doing right in that moment if it weren’t for this damn pandemic? If you said no, I’m going to have to say that’s probably a lie. I think all of us have spent many times sitting around our house thinking about nothing except how badly we wish we could just make a quick run to the grocery store like we used to be able to do so easily.

I also think it’s very fair to assume that most of us have a list of places we’re going to go, people we’re going to see and things we want to do the moment that we’re all safe (or allowed, depending on where you live) to do so, and I am absolutely no exception – in fact, if you’re here, you’ve probably read the title of this blog post & you’re curious about what the first things I want to do after this pandemic is (truly) over are – well, here they are:

Spend Far Too Much Time (& Money!) at HomeSense

If it’s your first time here – let’s start off with saying hello & welcome to my blog! If this isn’t your first time here, you already know my obsession with HomeSense. When this pandemic hit, I was so sad to come to the realization that I probably won’t be able to get into my favourite home décor store for a while – but hey, when you compare it to what millions of other people are going through right now, I’m not going to even pretend like this is something to complain about. If the worst thing that happens to you during this pandemic is that you’re bored, you’re a very lucky person. But I would be lying if I said I wasn’t super excited to get back into HomeSense as soon as possible! They are allowed to be open now where I live, however, there are massive line ups, and I’m definitely going to be waiting a little while until I feel like it’s safe for me to shop there.

Go See My Boyfriend!

I really don’t think that this one needs a ton of explanation, but yeah – the first thing I will be doing is bee lining to see my boyfriend. I made the decision back in early March that because I live with high-risk individuals; I was going make the sacrifice to not see my boyfriend until it was safe to do so. So yeah, I haven’t seen him since early March, and I’m missing him terribly. One brighter note is that when I do see him, we’ll be living together!

Get Dressed Up Again

Do not get me wrong, I have been loving the loungewear life, but I do have to admit, I kind of miss putting on real clothes and putting a little bit of effort into my appearance. Yes, I know I can very well slap on some make up and wear “real clothes” at home or on my weekly grocery store trip, but when it comes to getting dressed up at home, I see it as a complete waste of product, and most of the time, I’m not really in the mood for it. And as far as wearing my real clothes to the grocery store – I mean… I could, but like, why? It’s more fun to grocery shop in your leggings and oversized sweater, if you ask me.

Drinks with Friends on a Patio

One thing I have to admit that I am mourning a little bit is the loss of the summer season. As much as I’m not a huge fan of the hot weather, I do quite look forward to texting some friends and asking if they’d like to meet up for some drinks at a restaurant & we’ll usually end up sharing a pitcher of sangria & some nachos out on the patio. I’m definitely someone who is very much a homebody, and I don’t go out very often, so as much as I can confidently say that it’s not unusual for me not to see my friends for a month or two, I’m definitely missing getting out with them and socializing. Staying home is very different when it’s not your choice.

Enjoy the Grocery Store Again

Yes, you read that correctly. I was always someone who loved going grocery shopping. Even as a teenager, when my parents asked me if I wanted to come to the store with them, I always went, even though I made it seem like I’d rather stay home. At the time, I genuinely believe that I thought that I wanted to stay home, but really, I wanted to go to the store. To say that going to the grocery store has been ruined for me during this pandemic is an understatement. What once used to bring me joy, and was something I always looked forward to, has become a task that makes me anxious and that I dread all day when our weekly grocery run comes around, so once it’s finally safe to be at the grocery store normally again, I can’t wait to get back in there and shop without fear.

So what are some of the first things you want to do when this pandemic comes to an end, or it’s safe to back out into the world? Let me know in the comments! I have to admit, as much as I’ve started to accept our new normal for the next little while, it makes me sad to think it’ll be a while before it’ll truly be “safe” again, despite the fact that where I live, the province is reopening. Stay healthy everyone, and don’t forget to leave a comment! Xo.
