How To Cozy Up Your Home For Fall
As we get closer & closer — and maybe you’re already there, depending where you live — to the weather consistently dropping below 10 degrees, you probably want to add a little warmth & coziness to your space, and let’s be honest, probably switch things up a bit since we’ve all spent a lot more time at home this year than ever before. If I’m being honest, I’m sitting on my couch wrapped up in a blanket with my windows wide open, enjoying the weather dropping more and more from the current 15 degrees as the sun goes down, thinking about how I want to cozy up my own space even more — maybe I’ll have to take some of my own advice in this post.
Saje Diffuser + House Warming Diffuser Blend
If you’re a sucker for essential oils, just like I am, you more than likely have a diffuser somewhere in your home. If you happen to have a Saje diffuser, do yourself a favour & order yourself a bottle of the House Warming diffuser blend. This blend is my go-to scent for the fall and I’ll diffuse it almost daily when the weather gets cool - in fact, I’ve got it diffusing beside me right now & I’m loving every minute of it.
Add Blankets To Your Cuddliest Spaces
Unless you have the best air conditioning in the world, you more than likely aren’t keeping a cozy blanket on your bed and/or couch throughout the summer months, but when September hits, and fall is back with a vengeance, there’s nothing that makes a space cozier than adding big fluffy blankets to my couch & bed… and cracking open the windows to get it extra cool in the room. Here are some of my favourite cozy blankets:
String Lights
If you really want to make your space cuddly, add some string lights around your TV, make yourself a cup of tea - or a PSL, put on your favourite show or movie (I personally love to watch Gilmore Girls or any Disney Halloween movie like Halloweentown or Twitches in the fall), grab that cozy blanket I told you to add to your space, turn off all the lights & enjoy. I promise, there’s nothing better & more cozy than doing this on a Friday night.
Add Faux Pumpkins To Your Decor
Is it really fall if you don’t add a few pumpkins to your home? Whether they’re real or fake, pumpkins are the quintessential fall home decor accessory, and it’s pretty much a requirement - sorry. If you can add a real pumpkin to your front door, my personal favourite coloured pumpkins are the pale pink, light blue, white & pale orange variety. If you can’t get real ones because you live in a condo or apartment with no outdoor space like a balcony, pretty much any crafting store sells faux replicas of these pumpkins!
Candles Everywhere
You may be wondering why someone who lives next to their diffuser may want to light some candles, but hey, ever heard of unscented candles? Turning off (or down, depending if you can do that) the lights and lighting a few candles can make a space feel so warm and cozy - of course, be careful & always keep an eye on your candles when they’re lit! If you don’t want to worry about lighting a fire, opt for faux candles (they’re pretty real looking now), or If you don’t have a diffuser & would like to add some fall scents, go for a scented candle in whatever fall-inspired smell you want.
Switch Out Summer Flowers for Fall Flowers
Lastly, swap out your summer flowers for the fall kind! If you have faux flowers, do yourself a favour & instead of buying the ones that you can’t take the flowers out of, get one (or multiple) vases that you like, and buy faux flower stems to swap out with the seasons. You can also get seasonal picks to add to the flowers with things like pumpkins, leaves & other fall pieces to really fallify the bouquets. If you have real flowers, well, you know what to do - go to your local flower shop & get whatever is in season & within your budget!
There you have it everyone! All of the ways I make my space extra cozy during the fall, and it’s all super affordable & simple to do. How do you make your space perfect for the autumn season? Let me know! Don’t forget to come back next week for a new blog post.
