My Favourite Canadian Brands (Big + Small!)

I’m sure I’ve mentioned it plenty of times before, but I’m such a huge supporter of Canadian businesses. I love to put my money behind companies that I believe in, and support people both in my local community, as well as my fellow Canadian community, so today I’ve compiled a list of my favourite Canadian businesses that I’ve shopped with before, will continue to shop with and absolutely plan to shop with more in the future. These companies range from small businesses and Etsy shops, and go all the way up to nation-wide chains that have expanded into the US*.

* If you’re in the US, most of these shops & businesses do ship to the US as well, so don’t be scared off by the fact that they’re in Canada!

Small Businesses & Etsy Shops

Flatlay of clothing and shoes

One of my favourite things to do is put my money behind small brands that I believe in, and I swear, the greatest thing I ever did was meet new people online, and expand my knowledge of these brands that are available in my community, as well as across the country. The brands I’m about to list below, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with both in person, and online, and I can promise you, not only are they the sweetest people, but you feel so good knowing that you’re supporting someone chasing their dreams when you purchase from them:

BBxCollection

If you’re a big fan of graphic tee’s & cheeky sayings, much like I am, I promise you’ll love BBxCollection. Megan offers everything from sweaters, t-shirts, keychains & even accessories like headbands & hair clips. Her wearable items all feature adorable catch phrases. Some of my favourites include Feed Me Tacos and Tell Me You Love Me, Raisin’ Hell, May Contain Wine, Yeah No For Sure & Know Your Worth and Then Add Tax.

Gemma By Design

I found Gemma by Design from Ashley following me on Instagram. I happened to take a look at her profile, and fell in love with her bracelets that she creates. With a little more digging, I noticed she offers more than just bracelets! She also has diffuser bracelets, malas + necklaces, wrap bracelets & wrap anklets as well! I highly recommend checking her Etsy shop out if you love gemstone jewelry. In fact, I just did a giveaway on Instagram featuring one of her gorgeous bracelets, so you never know, you may see more in the future!

Allette & Co.

I started following Allison (Allette & Co.) after Jillian Harris announced she was working her as part of her summer collection with Etsy - yes, she’s worked with Jillian freakin’ Harris. What a thing to include on your list of accomplishments! In that collaboration, she created the most beautiful array of women’s scrunchies, baby headband bows & even a bow tie. Me being scrunchie obsessed, I of course had to buy at least a couple, and was lucky enough to grab a leopard scrunchie & a mustard one too. When I received them, I fell in love with the quality, and have recently purchased four more from her fall collection that she launched at the beginning of October.

Simplicity + Stone

Another wonderful connection I’ve made through Instagram was with Kayci of Simplicity + Stone. We started following each other, and when I checked out her Etsy shop, I instantly was obsessed with the agate phone grips that she makes & sells. If you know me, I’m obsessed with phone grips, I think I’ve literally bought one of every kind that is on the market. Agate is also so beautiful & comes in so many colours, shapes and sizes, it’s hard not to just add every single colour option to my cart when Kayci launches new ones on the shop!

Bigger-Small Businesses & Shops

Smash and tess romper

I call these below listed stores “big-small businesses” because I feel like that’s the best way to describe them! Most of them have large followings on Instagram, and are well known, but maybe don’t necessarily have a store front, or they have a store (or a couple!), but are definitely not quite at the national chain level. Either way, they’re doing amazing in business, total bosses & I’m absolutely in love with their products:

Style For The Priv

I discovered Style For The Priv a few years ago when they did a collaboration with Jillian Harris featuring a ton of super cute t-shirts (the one I specifically wanted, and ended up buying was the Holy Guacamole shirt - I’ve loved & worn it so much it now has a couple of small holes in it… oops), and I remember being in love with how soft the material was, soooo I ended up buying the Brunch So Hard shirt too. *Insert shrugging emoji here*. Style For The Priv is a unique brand since they have both their own line of pieces that they produce, but they also sell other brands (some of which are on this list!) so it’s great that you can get a little bit of everything from them. They also have a great podcast called PrivTalks, which is the exact podcast that I started listening to that got me into listening to podcasts in general - you should totally check it out.

State of Grace

State of Grace is a brand that I found from shopping from Style For The Priv, and listening to their podcast. The awesome girl behind SOG, Bailey used to work at Priv, and I listen to their podcast religiously, so of course, I was opened up to the amazing world of extremely sarcastic & kind of tragic (in the best way possible) quotes on candles, tumblers, water bottles & more. Some of my favourite pieces include the There’s a Good Chance this is Vodka Water Bottle, I Got 99 Hair Ties but I can’t find one Zip Bag, It’s Fine I’m Fine Everything’s Fine 20oz Mug, Girls Blanket & See You Next Tuesday Candle. Bailey & her co-host Jacci also have a podcast called What Day Is It? which I also love, find so relatable & highly recommend checking out if you’re into podcasts!

Smash + Tess

This is a brand that I also found through following Jillian Harris (this list is primarily businesses that I found because of Jillian Harris, I’m sure you’ve come to learn at this point…) I remember the first time Jillian posted about a Smash + Tess romper, and I was like “I have to have one of these” because those rompers just looked SO comfy. I ended up getting one for Christmas from my boyfriend (after I asked for it - lol), and I don’t think I took it off for like two weeks after that. Then of course, Jillian Harris came out with her first collaboration with them earlier in the year, so obviously I bought another (pictured above). The rompers are a bit of an investment, but I promise they’re worth every single penny!

Chelsea King Scrunchies

Ahhh, yet another brand that I discovered through Jillian Harris (I swear, that girl can sell me on anything). One day as I was looking through a post on Jillian’s blog, probably well over 2-3 years ago, I noticed she had a photo of a beautiful glass jar filled with scrunchies, and she had mentioned that they were from Chelsea King. Well, I pretty much placed an order right after that, and the rest is history. I now own probably a good 15+ scrunchies from Chelsea King now, and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon

Brunette the Label

Okay - second last one that I found through Jillian Harris, I promise… at least on this list. Brunette the Label makes the coziest sweaters that say exactly what you think they say - your hair colour. They offer a wide variety of options including, of course, Brunette, Blonde, Redhead, Jet Black and even Silver. The great thing about Brunette, is that they don’t just offer sweaters, but t-shirts, jean jackets, hair clips and pretty much everything else in between. They also have some items that have sayings like Babes Supporting Babes, if wearing your hair colour on your shirt isn’t exactly what you’d call fashion, so they truly have something for everyone (even your kiddos)!

Terra20

When I was first starting my eco-friendly journey, a brand I came across was Terra20. My favourite thing about them is that they’ve compiled so many cruelty-free and eco-conscious brands all in one place, and offer everything from house cleaning supplies, to food, make up, zero-waste lunch accessories to even clothing. If you’re looking for a place to start to find some awesome items, no matter what journey you’re on (whether it be zero-waste, cruelty-free or anything else!), this is a great place to check out. You can also feel good knowing that they’ve vetted every piece they bring it as cruelty-free to begin with!

The Cross Design

Lastly (not just on the list, but also on the Jillian-Harris-introduced-me-to-this-brand train), The Cross Design. Now, this one is a little different because this is more of a brand I’ve admired from afar. I’ve mentioned in other posts before that I’m a girl on a budget, and The Cross Design definitely offers items that are of very high-quality (lots of items are made in Canada!), and investments pieces that are much too far out of my budget at this point in my life. However, if you’re at a point where you’re looking to get some extremely beautiful & well-made pieces for your home, I highly suggest checking them out. They offer everything you can possibly images from furniture, to dishware, and every other decor piece you can think of! I just purchased some beautiful pieces from their collaboration with Jillian Harris & Tori Wesszer, the Fraiche Kitchen collection - you can check those out here on my Instagram!

Nationwide Brands

Saje Goddess Roller

Now, for the larger businesses! These are two big companies that have expanded across the country, and even into the US with physical stores. It’s always so great to see Canadian businesses really take off to the point that they are moving into the US market, so here they are:

Saje Natural Wellness

If you look back, my very first post when I started this blog in September was my Current Saje Favourites. This was another brand that I started paying close attention to from following Jillian Harris so closely (I’m completely serious when I say she could sell me anything), but I’m so glad that I started following them and I’ve been hooked ever since. Some of my favourite products from Saje Natural Wellness (outside of my blog post) include the Peppermint Halo Roll-On, Yoga Anti-Bacterial Mat Spray, Liquid Sunshine Hand Soap, Mountain High Diffuser Blend & The Pocket Farmacy. My favourite part about Saje is that they are entirely cruelty-free, and lots of their products are also vegan!

Chapters Indigo

And then of course, another store you can almost always catch me in - Chapters Indigo. Originally called just Chapters, they started selling just books (duh), and then once that market started dying off, they introduced home decor, fashion items, tech, and so much more. This is my absolute favourite place to buy mugs from! They have so many to choose from, and they’re always the absolute cutest, and very affordable. And honestly, don’t even get me started on their holiday pieces that they carry!

Well, that’s it for today folks! I highly recommend checking out some of these places, and putting your money behind more Canadian companies, and better yet smaller Canadian brands - I promise you won’t regret it!
