My Favourite Items from The Cross Decor & Design
I can’t be the only one with a favourite home decor store, right? You know how it goes – you find a store that just seems to have so many things that speak to you, and you can picture in your home, perfectly matching up with your style; well that’s The Cross Decor & Design for me. And before anyone asks, yeah, obviously I found them through Jillian Harris, haha.
Aside from all of the beautiful items that The Cross sells, one thing I truly love about the store is the fact that they are a small Canadian business and so many of the items are made in Canada, which is something I’ve always been big on supporting, but given the state of the world, now more than ever! I’m definitely someone who’d rather pay a bit more for a good quality item, than buy tons of cheap things, and The Cross truly delivers when it comes to beautiful & great quality items! And yes, the collage below was heavily inspired by the collage from this blog post on jillianharris.com, hahaha. Jillian inspires me in many ways, what can I say?
These are a Few of My Favourite Things…
1. Gesso Wood Table Lamp | 2. Sweet Heart Bath Mat | 3. Sweetheart Wooden Spoon | 4. Clio Gold Cutlery | 5. Palermo Serving Bowl | 6. Fraiche Kitchen Candle | 7. Angel White Cake Plate | 8. Gold Canterbury Jigger | 9. Darling Heart Coaster | 10. Apple Pie Oven Mitt | 11. Happy Place Sign | 12. Palermo Pitcher | 13. Full Heart Tea Towels
1. Gesso Wood Table Lamp
I fell in love with the Gesso Wood Table Lamp when I saw them in Jillian Harris’ bedroom decor. A couple of my favourite things about this lamp is how neutral it is, and how it could easily be used in many different styles of homes. It’s a classic style that would compliment many different colour palettes as well, making it a great item to have, especially if you’re like me and change your mind about what you like all the time, and it will easily transition across those changes including colours & styles all while being a long lasting, good quality item. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but it is definitely something I aspire to purchase in the future!
2. Sweet Heart Bath Mat
Another item that I fell in love with but don’t actually own myself (yet… yet), and there’s really no big explanation needed for this one, honestly. The Sweet Heart Bath Mat is just a super cute mat that totally fits my style, and it features two of my favourite accent colours – pink & white, haha. But you can’t tell me it doesn’t look like such a soft bath mat to step out on after a nice warm shower, right!?
3. Sweetheart Wooden Spoon
If you want to talk about bang for your buck, the Sweetheart Wooden Spoon is it for me! I use this spoon almost every time I cook a meal, which definitely is a lot lately, and I’ve been using it so much I just ordered an extra back up one in case anything happens to this one. This spoon is apart of the Fraiche Kitchen collection in collaboration with Jillian Harris & Tori Wesszer that went along with the launch of their cookbook, Fraiche Food Full Hearts in October 2019, and is super affordable at only $14.95. If you want one, you better go-go-go and get one soon before they’re gone, as they are limited edition!
4. Clio Gold Cutlery
I’m going to be putting myself on big time blast here, but I totally bought myself the teaspoon, soup spoon & dinner fork of the Clio Gold Cutlery to use when I was styling and taking photos of food for my blog & Instagram, but when I got them in the mail and used them for the first time, I fell in love! I definitely will be ordering the rest of the set, and then enough for four settings of this cutlery soon so I can use this as my everyday cutlery!
5. Palermo Serving Bowl
Another item that was apart of the Fraiche Kitchen collection, (yeah, Jillian Harris can pretty much convince me to buy anything, what can I say for myself, hahaha), I truly don’t regret buying this bowl at all! I purchased the Palermo Serving Bowl in the medium size, and it’s what I’d consider to be the perfect size when you are serving dinner for just two people. I definitely would love to purchase this serving bowl in both the small & large size one day. The classic look, and neutral colour of these bowls match with practically any style of dishware that you have, making it another item that will transition well across my ever-changing mind of what I like.
6. Fraiche Kitchen Candle
Yep, you guessed it (probably based on the name) – another Fraiche Kitchen item! Candles are one thing that I can’t seem to keep my hands off of, and this one was definitely no exception. It definitely isn’t a scent for everyone as the scent is more on the fruity side, but if you do like those kind of smells, I think you’d absolutely love it! The Fraiche Kitchen Candle was made in collaboration with the Vancouver Candle Co., so you’re supporting not just one, but two small Canadian businesses by purchasing this beautifully scented candle.
7. Angel White Cake Plate
If you know me, I’m a big fan of simple items that match with all styles of decor (as I’ve mentioned a ton of times in this blog post alone, haha), and the Angel White Cake Plate is the perfect amount of simple. I love that it’s fresh, and clean looking in the bright white, but the little details give this cake plate a very classic look. This cake plate is most definitely on the pricey side, and it’s not something I currently own, but it’s definitely an item that I’d love to get my hands on at some point, especially since I’ve been doing so much cooking and baking as of late!
8. Gold Canterbury Jigger
One of my favourite things that I own is my gold bar cart, and I love to keep any go-to items that are needed to craft the perfect cocktail on hand, and a jigger is definitely no exception. If I’m being honest though, I really don’t drink cocktails all that often, I’m definitely more of a wine girl, myself! This being said, I do love to make up cocktails for my friends when they come over (when we were allowed to have friends over, haha). This Gold Canterbury Jigger is the perfect simple, yet beautiful jigger to have in your cocktail collection. Again, this is an investment item, however after buying a couple of cheaper jiggers that have broken, I’ll gladly invest in a better item if it will last.
9. Darling Heart Coaster
One of my favourite shapes is hearts – I even have one tattooed on me! So of course when I saw these Darling Heart Coasters, I fell in love and knew I had to have them. Since they’re a very subtle heart shape, you can’t initially tell that they’re actually hearts, so if you’re like me, and your significant other isn’t exactly into the heart shapes, it won’t be too aggressive for them, hahaha.
10. Apple Pie Oven Mitt
Like I mentioned when I was talking about the bath mat above, I’m a big fan of white & pink accents in my decor (much to my boyfriend’s dismay LOL), and even though I’m seriously obsessed with these, I don’t actually have the Apple Pie Oven Mitt myself. Hint, hint to anyone reading this that would like to buy me a nice gift for my birthday this year, I’d like one (or two, hehe) of these, please! And yeah, this was another Fraiche Kitchen item, so you all know why I want it – LOL!
11. Happy Place Sign
Yep, yet another item that I fell in love with from seeing it in Jillian Harris’ home. Honestly, a lot of these items I fell in love with from seeing it somewhere on Jillian’s Instagram, since there’s so many adorable items from The Cross in her home! Just accept it, lol. This is definitely one of the most affordable items on the list though at only $9.95 CDN, so if you know someone who loves Jillian too, and you want to get an affordable, Jillian-inspired gift for them, the Happy Place Sign is a great choice!
12. Palermo Pitcher
Alright, as you can see, I do actually own this pitcher & I’m going to be completely honest here – when I first bought it, I was like “Wow, it’s a good thing it’s 20% off right now, because $45 is a lot for a pitcher”, but I was shocked when it showed up in the mail – it is actually massive for a pitcher. I pulled it out of the box and I literally said “Holy, this pitcher is massive!”. I’ve been loving making fresh lemonade during this quarantine time, so having a nice big pitcher to serve to my entire family is great to have one hand. As you can see from the name, the Palermo Pitcher is also from the same collection as the Palermo Serving Bowl, so of course the same rustic & classic look is what made me love it so much.
13. Full Hearts Tea Towels
Last but of course not least, the Full Heart Tea Towel set, once again from the Fraiche Kitchen collection. These towels are beautiful, but I must warn you they are definitely more for decorative look than for drying dishes, which is what I generally buy towels for. That being said, I do have the perfect spot in my home for these to go where my entire family can appreciate the beautiful look of them, and my favourite thing is that I can put all three, two or only one of them out at a time to use for decor, giving me lots of options!
Doesn’t The Cross Decor & Design have the most beautiful items?! I love that they carry a variety of price points so if you love the overall look of what they sell, but can’t afford to spend tons of money, they have some items you can still pick up for yourself that will add the same look and charm to your home. What was your favourite item? Or was it not really your taste? Let me know in the comments. Chat again in the next blog post, xo.
