Freddie is One!

I can hardly believe it as I’m writing this but my sweet little puppy that we brought home almost one year ago now is one. That year went by so fast, I can hardly believe it. I remember in the early days of having him, when he’d wake up every 2-3 hours to go for a potty break at night, and when he’d whine in his crate all night long (although, honestly, he still does this…) I used to think that it’d never end, and wish that’d he would grow up & be a bit more independent. And now he’s freakin’ ONE!

Of course, me being a millennial dog mom, I went all out for his first birthday. I told my partner in advance to expect a very ridiculous level of dog mom-ness from me on Freddie’s birthday — I’m talking balloons, a pupcake, gifts. The whole bit! So let me tell you how we celebrated our baby’s first birthday.

How We Celebrated Freddie’s 1st Birthday!

Of course, due to COVID (and well, the fact that Freddie wouldn’t have cared, haha), we had to keep it pretty low key & small. I picked up a big giant gold “1” balloon, as well as some teal and white balloons, and got them all blown up with helium so I could get some sweet photos of Freddie for me to look back on. I also ordered him the cutest Birthday Boy bandana from Cocopups (the only place we get our bandanas from!) for him to wear all day so he could be the star of the show (I say as if he isn’t always the star of the show, haha).

As I mentioned at the beginning of the blog, since I’m a millennial dog mom — maybe too much for my own good? — I also decided to make him some very special pumpkin-banana pupcakes. Pumpkin was very fitting, not only because he loves pumpkin, but it’s also perfect for the season! Here is the recipe I used in case you want to make some for pup!

Of course, we couldn’t let Freddie’s birthday pass without giving him a present! He has never met a toy he didn’t like, however he’s such an intense chewer, we have to limit his toys to pretty much only hard rubber, unless we can actively watch him. He also loves tug-of-war, but recently destroyed his tug-of-war toy, so it made sense to get him this Kong Tug Toy! I just know he’s going to have so much fun with it. But that’s not all — I also got him the cutest bandana, also from Cocopups in the pattern Pumpkin Spice for him to wear in the fall, but that didn’t come in time for his “party”. Though, I will admit… that gift was more for me to enjoy his cuteness! 😂

Well, my baby is one. Wow. I still can’t believe it. I’m sure some people reading this must think “it’s just a dog”, but to me, Freddie is my baby & I want to give him the best of the best! I hope you enjoyed this blog & maybe got some gift or celebration ideas for your pups next birthday ♥️
