My First Impressions of The Jilly Academy
Well, I’ve got to say when I originally planned on writing this blog post, I thought that I’d be probably about half way through, with some overall impressions of what I thought about The Jilly Academy. Much to my shock, I actually ended up completing the first course, The Brand Strategy, in five days, so I don’t just have first impressions, I have a full impression!
If this is your first time hearing about The Jilly Academy, I’ll give a quick breakdown before jumping into my thoughts, pros & cons and what I think about the course overall. The Jilly Academy is a collection of business courses created by Jillian Harris for small business owners, entrepreneurs & aspiring influencers. As I’m writing this, three course have been created — The Brand Strategy, The Content Creator & The Growth Accelerator. The first course went live on April 6th, and the other two courses will be coming out in May & June. So, let’s talk about The Brand Strategy course.
Pros & Cons
Of course, I’m not going to pretend that I don’t have a bit of a bias. Jillian is one of the only influencers that I closely follow, and even my own brand and blog are heavily inspired by her. That being said, I’m going to be very honest about what I liked, what I thought could use some improvement & generally, my overall thoughts.
PROS: Can be done anywhere since it’s all on a digital platform. Options for digital or printed workbook. Broken down into modules making it easy to sit down and work on a module one at a time at your own pace. Resources from Jillian’s brand & team to reference. Potential for a scholarship to take the courses for free.
CONS: Resources can be difficult to find if you don’t know where to look. Having the workbook printed can be a bit complex if you’re not familiar with the print industry. Can potentially be a bit pricey if you don’t get a scholarship.
Overall Thoughts
I personally feel like the pros far outweigh the cons that I experienced when doing this course, especially since they’re pretty easy fixes for the most part. I found Jillian comes across as a natural educator in these videos, the course content is easy to digest & work through, and though the cost can be a bit on the higher side (however, not bad considering the cost of other courses), I think if you are interested in understanding more about how to implement her best practices in your own business, it’s a great investment in yourself. There’s a ton of valuable information not just for business owners but aspiring influencers, and having access to things like Team Jilly’s brand partnership checklist & brand guidelines is truly incredible. I don’t think I know of another influencer who’s opened up this much about how they’ve become successful & shared it with the world the way Jillian has.
If you’re currently working on, or have also finished the first course, The Brand Strategy in The Jilly Academy, I’m so curious to know what you think of the course as well. What are your pros & cons like? Feel free to comment them below!
