My March Favourites

Another month, come and gone, and you know what that means - another month of favourites! Depending on where you are in the world, March was probably a pretty rough month for you. It definitely was for me, and as much as life doesn’t revolve around materialistic things, sometimes material things are what help us get through some tough times. As you may have seen in my last blog, I am one of the people being affected by the lay offs happening around the country right now, so this means I have a lot of extra time on my hands lately. So without further ado, let’s jump into what my favourites this month have been:

Nintendo Switch + Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Nintendo Switch + Animal Crossing: New Horizons

This was a purchase that I recently made (like, seriously - last week), just before I got (temporarily) laid off from my job, so to say the timing was bad, can’t be emphasized enough, haha. But that being said, I am so grateful & happy that I got a Nintendo Switch because wow, I’ve been spending an obscene amount of time using it since I got it. It’s helped me pass the time so much since I’ve loved and spent tons of time playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This game has tons of stuff to do and is constantly changing day-to-day, so there’s always something new to learn. This game, whether you’re temporarily laid off or not, is definitely worth investing in, if you like video games.

Fraiche Food, Full Hearts

Fraiche Food, Full Hearts Cookbook

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that the last few days I’ve been going hard on the Fraiche Food, Full Hearts cookbook recipes (a blog post of all of my favourite recipes that I’ve made so far will be coming in the near future!), and in the last couple of days alone, I’ve made the Roasted Tomato & Basil Soup with Garlic Croutons, Aunty Mary’s Banana Bread & the Butternut Squash Carbonara. Cooking & baking has kept me nice and busy (and drink more wine than I’d like to admit), and keeping me eating. I’m not sure about anyone else, but I’m someone that doesn’t eat much when I’m stressed, and lord knows this whole situation has been very stressful. I can’t recommend this cookbook enough since it covers a plethora of dietary restrictions including recipes that are vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, gluten-free & nut-free, so there really is something for everyone!

The Cross: Sweetheart Wooden Spoon, Fraiche Kitchen

Sweetheart Wooden Spoon

Along with the Fraiche Food, Full Hearts cookbook is the Sweetheart Wooden Spoon from The Cross Decor & Design in collaboration with Jillian Harris & Tori Wesszer, for the Fraiche Kitchen collection. This collection launched around the same time as the cookbook, and today is actually the last day that this stuff is for sale, so if you want it, you better go get it, like… right now! It’s definitely just your average wooden spoon, but the little heart cut out really adds a little extra joy and fun to the whole cooking process! (I seriously could’ve bought everything from this collection… except not having a regular pay right now means I can’t, but oh well!)

Shop the Skinny: The Jillian Harris Erinn Caridgan

The Jillian Harris Erinn Cardigan

I guess the theme of this quarantine time is Jillian Harris, huh? My whole life is Jillian Harris themed, if I’m being honest… but if you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, this is clearly no surprise to you, haha. Of course, I had to include my Jillian Harris Erinn Cardigan from The Skinny, because it has been keeping me nice and cozy. Some of my favourite things about this cardigan is that it’s one-size-fits-all, the perfect neutral colour, a great length for just about anyone of any height, and it’s so easy to dress up or dress down. Obviously I’ve been doing a little more dressing down recently, but I can’t wait to wear this cardigan out when the quarantine is over!

Surf Soak x Jillian Harris: Ylang Ylang Sea Salt Bath Salts

Jillian Harris x Surf Soak Ylang Ylang Bath Salts

I told you theme of this quarantine is Jillian Harris, haha. But seriously, I couldn’t be more thankful for the last Jilly Box than I am right now! The whole box was themed around self-care, and considering the whole situation, I and many other people are in right now, self-care is something that is very much needed. I know that not everyone thinks of self-care as face-masks, and bath salts, but I’m definitely someone who thinks of self-care, as exactly this, so having these bath salts on hand, has been a life saver! My favourite part about these bath salts is that they really do remind me of Hawai'i, just like Jillian Harris said. If you love a nice floral scent & supporting small Canadian businesses, I can’t recommend these bath salts enough.

Well, that’s all for my monthly favourites for March. I hope you guys are getting through this these very stressful times okay and if anyone needs to chat, please feel free to leave a comment, or message me on Instagram - we’re going to get through this guys, I believe in us. Don’t forget to practice self-care, and do what you need to do (WHILE SOCIAL DISTANCING!) to keep your mental health in a good spot. Until Friday guys! Xo.
