My Current Favourite Home Decor Items

The time between the holidays and the arrival of spring is always a bit of a weird space — most of us are just trying to get through the rest of the winter, longing for more sun, longer days and the return of the summer greenery, but me? It’s when I get inspired to revamp my space. If you’ve followed me the last few years, you probably have noticed a bit of a shift in my overall home decor style. I was all about light and bright, pinks and blues and now I’m leaning more into the beiges, greens, blues, browns and a little bit of pink and welcoming darker colours with open arms.

Much like every other year, I’m really excited to give me space a bit of revamp at this time of the year, and I’ve found myself scrolling through tons of furniture and home decor shops online and trying to remind myself that we’re going on a trip and I don’t need anything for our space. So instead, I decided if I can’t buy it, I should share it with you!

I am the first to admit, some of these items I do actually have and some are definitely on my wish list. One of my absolute favourite things in my home is my Ruggable rug not only because it’s absolutely beautiful (look at the design!!!), but because when you have a pet, you know the mess that they can make, and I love that if we have any messes, it can just be thrown in the wash like any other item of clothing in our closet. I love this rug so much, I’m trying to convince my husband we need one for our bedroom!

Though I know some people have feelings about too much decor, I’d say I’m somewhere in the middle — I wouldn’t say I’m a minimalist but definitely not a maximalist too. I’m just a firm believer that the right decor sets the tone and vibe for a space and creates a feeling of coziness that makes the room feel lived in. I like to bring in different size and textured pillows to make it not only look good, but be comfortable when you’re sitting on it!

I’m also a firm believer in the fact that homes need a little greenery in it, whether it’s a real plant or fake, bringing a little bit of the outdoors inside is a must to make my space feel a bit more alive. One of my favourite items in our bedroom is my 5.5’ faux olive tree that I actually won in a giveaway a few years ago, and a vase filled with faux eucalyptus that I have sitting on my desk. It doesn’t have to be real to give that bringing-the-outdoors-in feeling!

Are you like me where you love to spruce up your space for the upcoming spring season, or are you just trying to get through the rest of winter? Let me know in the comments!
