Not-So-Spooky Halloween Movies To Watch Tonight

Happy Monday everyone, but most importantly — HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I don’t know about all of you, but my Halloween plans (after handing out candy) will be curling up on the couch with some leftover Halloween candy and watching some seasonally appropriate movies with my husband and dog. This all being said, I am not into horror movies by any means, so my kind of movies to watch on this holiday are far more PG, and not overly spooky. If you’re like me, and your speed is more along the lines of not-so-spooky movies, this list is for you!

The Halloweentown Series

Starting off with my absolute favourite of all Halloween movies is the Halloweentown movie series. These are an absolute classic and make me totally nostalgic for my childhood. Quite honestly, I don’t have an idea of when the first time I saw the movies were, but I sure know I watched them every year. My personal favourite is Halloweentown High, followed very closely by Halloweentown, then Return To Halloweentown & lastly Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge. That being said, watch them in order! (Halloweentown, Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge, Halloweentown High & Return To Halloweentown).

Hocus Pocus

Another classic that you must watch if you haven’t already is Hocus Pocus. Who doesn’t love a movie featuring the sassy Sanderson Sisters?! And the best part — Hocus Pocus 2 came out last month, so you can watch both back-to-back for one witchy evening! Nothing screams Halloween to me quite like Hocus Pocus.

The Twitches Series

Along with the Halloweentown series, I always watched the Twitches movies when I was a kid, and quite honestly, I think the absolute best part of Disney+ coming out is the fact that I get to watch all of my favourite childhood Halloween movies. If you’ve never heard of Twitches before, the title pretty much says it all – it’s about twin witches, but that’s all I’m giving away – go to your Disney+ and watch it now.

The Scooby-Doo Movies

Was anyone else absolutely obsessed with Scooby-Doo as a kid!? I swear, before I even began to take an interest in Barbies, I was beyond in love with the Scooby-Doo cartoons that played on TV, especially the older ones. If you follow me on Instagram, you would’ve seen that I went as Daphne, my husband as Shaggy & Freddie as Scooby this year!

The Hotel Transylvania Movies

Probably the cutest of all of the movies on this list is the Hotel Transylvania movies. Cartoon Dracula, Frankenstein, and all of their other friends like a Werewolf family, and a Mummy, including their families on vacation to a hotel perfectly safe for monsters in a world full of humans that are afraid of them. You’ve more than likely either seen or heard of these movies, so I don’t think you need a full explanation, but either way, so cute & very on brand for Halloween.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Finishing off this list is what I would say, the spookiest of this list of not overly spooky movies. And the only reason I say this, is because, well, it’s a Tim Burton movie & we all know that Tim Burton loves to give off spooky vibes in all of his movies. Again, this is probably a movie that just about everyone reading this list has seen, but if you’ve never seen it, it’s time to sign up for Disney+ and get your spooky on. There’s also a ton of people who claim this is a Christmas movie, to which I say, you are wrong.

Are you watching any Halloween movies tonight? If so, which ones? Send me a DM on Instagram, and let me know. Have a very safe, and Happy Halloween everyone!
