Taking Time To Remember
Today’s post is going to be a short & sweet one as it’s Remembrance Day here in Canada, and this is a pretty important day for me, my family & many others across the country. It’s also Veterans Day in the USA, and of course, I’d like to give space to these days of remembrance. If you’re not from any countries that have celebrations like Remembrance Day, it is a day for us in Canada to take a moment of silence in tribute to the soldiers who served for the country, past & present.
Remembrance Day was originally started as Armistice Day, after the end of the first World War as a way to mark the end of that war with the armistice treaty that was signed on that November 11th at 11am, and was celebrated by Britain and throughout the British Commonwealth.
As always, there will be thousands of people in Canada that will go out to attend a Remembrance Day ceremony put on in their community, but the largest one being held in Canada is in Ottawa, Ontario (the capital of Canada) at the tomb of the unknown soldier.
