A Week In My Closet
Hey everyone, happy Tuesday & welcome back! I hope all of my fellow Canadians had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. In today’s post, you’ll be following along with me through a week… at least, through styling my outfits. Fashion is one of my absolute favourite things. I remember when I was younger, I always wanted to work for a fashion magazine (particularly - Nylon Magazine) designing the layout of the pages. Of course, that hasn’t happened… yet. I have big dreams. Oh, and before I get into it, I’m going to apologize in advance for all of the iPhone photos - I don’t have a photographer on hand, and it’s just the easiest way to get photos of myself in outfits, haha.
So let’s get into it! Here’s a week in my closet:

Good morning, and guess what… today is my birthday! Does anyone else feel like this year went by so fast, I don’t know how it’s already October, let alone after Thanksgiving & onto Halloween! We are finally into the cooler temperatures where I live, and I am absolutely living my best life because of it. I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, but I’m a big fan of being comfy. I’m super lucky that I get to work in a very casual office, meaning I get to wear leggings to work (perks of being a graphic designer – we love comfy clothes, haha), so this is often what I’m wearing. I know today was my birthday, and you’d think I would’ve dressed up a bit, but nah. Why be uncomfortable? It’s my birthday! I wanna be comfy & cozy. I got this sweater last year, and I wore it so much, and plan to continue wearing it tons in the autumn & winter again this year.

Jacket | Shirt | Jeans | Necklace | Sunglasses
Happy Tuesday everyone! It being my birthday yesterday, I was so lucky to be given some wonderful presents from family & friends, so of course I wanted to style some of those pieces today. To start, I have to say, this outfit is the perfect casual-Friday, fall look for me. I love that the jacket is soft and stretchy (even though it may not look like it), allowing me to move my arms freely. I have relatively broad shoulders and a broad back, so materials that don’t have any stretch can not only be unforgiving on me, but make me feel like going all Hulk on the shirt and ripping it off from feeling too constricted. I know I mentioned above, in yesterdays outfit, that I love being comfy and this outfit is such a happy medium because it’s super stylish, but also extremely soft & comfortable. The jeans from American Eagle feel like butter, and aren’t made of a stiff material at all, making them super easy to move and be comfy in all day. Lastly - if you’ve seen Toy Story, you know why I love the shirt. Shout out to my co-worker for this awesome birthday gift.

Dress (Similar) | Clutch (Similar) | Sunglasses
Holy, it’s already Wednesday… this week is going by rather quickly for me, actually! Probably because I’m off today for a good friend’s wedding. Though it was super casual, I couldn’t not wear a dress - I’m a big fan of dressing up, so I will take any excuse to spend an extra few minutes in the bathroom in the morning, haha. Of course, it being October, I live in Canada, and this is an outdoor wedding, it’s not exactly the kind of day you take out the short dress (at least not for me), so I opted for a longer dress that I had from my time working at Kate Spade (and please don’t ask what the blue lines on the carpet in the photo are - I have no idea). I never really loved this dress, but I figured it’d be a good choice, given that it’s not overly dressy, since, like I mentioned before, my friend was having a very casual wedding. But, when I put it on, I really loved the way it fit me, so I’m definitely going to be wearing this one more often. My friend’s wedding was truly wonderful to be apart of, and I loved that it was so different and matched her and her now husbands, personalities perfectly!

Thursday, October 10th
Okay, well… this is a judgement free zone, alright? I wasn’t feeling 100% the next day because I was gone from 9am until 9pm. It was a long day, as wonderful as the wedding was, but I just wanted to spend the day being comfortable. I feel like this entire week, I’m just like “I want to be comfortable!!”, but really, who doesn’t? Especially when they’re not feeling great… *hehe*. My favourite part about this outfit is my sweater because if you know me in real life, you know I’m actually naturally a blonde, but I’ve been dying my hair red for 8 years, and it honestly just suits me so much more than blonde ever did. Also, we all know my love for Canadian brands, and Brunette the Label is a kick ass brand from Vancouver, and I’d live in all of their sweaters if I could - I highly recommend grabbing one. The sweaters are a bit on the pricey side, but they’re so soft and comfy, I promise you won’t regret it.

TGIF, am I right? Here is Canada, we’re about to head into the Thanksgiving long weekend (YES!!!), so Monday is a holiday for us. Today was another rather chilly morning, and since I am not feeling nearly as horrible as I did yesterday (although, somehow, more tired than yesterday? I went home and slept from like … 6:30 until 9:30, and then 12 until 6:30, how am I still tired?!), so I wanted to end the week off on a less lazy outfit. I’m also really feelin’ the fall vibe with the mustard yellow / gold sweater. Has anyone else noticed how in this colour is this year?! I’m obsessed with it, so I’m super excited that I can get a bunch of pieces in this colour. Also, I totally ordered this blanket scarf on Monday from Aerie - it was already 40% off, and then I had a 20% coupon for my birthday, so I figured, why the heck not! You will absolutely come to learn that I’m a huge fan of accessories like hats & scarves (I repeat, this is a no judgement zone. This includes me “not feeling well” the day after a mid-week wedding, and my obsession/ridiculous amounts of scarves and winter accessories…. I live in Canada, okay?! It gets cold here!)
* Note: Sweater is from Walmart Canada, purchased in 2019. Jeans are from American Eagle, purchased in 2018. Scarf is from Aerie, purhcased in 2019. Sunglasses are from Shady Lady Eyewear, purchased in 2019.
Okay, I really enjoyed doing this post this week! I feel like I may have to do this again at some point, maybe when I’m not going full veg-mode in the pull over sweaters and leggings all week though, haha! I do have a little trip coming up in the new year… so I’m sure there will be some fun outfits that I could talk about with that post... but that being said, hopefully it won’t be entirely iPhone photos next time, haha. Stay tuned ;) And thanks for reading!
