My Goals For 2020

Well, goodbye 2019, and hello 2020! It’s so crazy that we are at the beginning of a new decade - I swear, it just feels like it was 2010, but now that is officially 10 years ago and as much as I’m not old by classification, it’s making me feel kind of old! I know whenever a new year comes along, a lot of people like to make a list or something of the sorts with their resolutions for the year. I have to say, I’m actually not really a New Years Resolutions kind of person - I don’t think we need to have a new year to make changes in our lifestyle, and let’s be honest, most of them don’t end up being upheld longer than February 1st. I like to consider a New Year an opportunity to think about goals, and what I’d like to achieve in the coming 12 months - so here’s the goals I’d like to reach in 2020:

Invest In My Blog

Something I am hoping to be able to do in 2020 is to invest in a new laptop & DSLR. I quite enjoy making content for my blog, but firstly - my current laptop is from 2013, and has seen it’s day. It was my laptop that I used in school, and while the bones of it still work great, it’s reached its point of getting more than a little too hot whenever I open any Adobe program, which is a big part of what I need to edit photos & stuff for my blog (as well as any other design work I need or want to do). If any of you took graphic design, animation, or anything similar in school, you know how big those files are…

As for the DSLR, I’m currently on an entry-level camera from 2012, with just a basic camera. I’m lucky enough that two of my closest friends are photographers, and my significant other is also a photographer, so I have lots of resources and help when it comes to finding the best bang for my buck on a body and new lens!

Commit To My Skincare Routine

If you were to ask me only two or three years ago what I spent the most money on, I would’ve said make up, without a hesitation. However, now I don’t really wear as much make up, and the cost of the products I purchase is definitely on the higher side, so it’s not something I love spending money on anymore; mostly because I just buy refills of things like concealer, mascara, etc - nothing overly fun. But I definitely got kind of lazy about my skin care routine this year, and my skin has really shown it. Like my make up products, the skin care line I was purchasing was on the pricey, and in trying to save money, I switched to a cheaper brand. Now, this is not to say it’s not a good brand - it’s sold at Sephora, and is quite good quality products, however it wasn’t what my skin needed. All of this to say, I switched back to the more expensive skin care line, spent more time removing my make up each day and in a couple of days I saw an improvement - so in the new year, my goal is to keep up with this routine, and keep my skin as clean as possible!

Continue With Healthy Eating

After Christmas last year, I started to feel really blah from all of the rich (and definitely not healthy) foods, just like we all do. But, for whatever reason, this time I really stuck to eating healthy, and it completely changed my lifestyle, and the way I was looking at food. I think for like, three months straight I ate salad everyday for lunch, and really reduced the amount of carbs I was consuming. I have lost some weight, but not a super duper drastic amount, and I’m definitely feeling more high energy when I’m drinking at least 2 litres of water a day, eating well, and taking my vitamins, so this is something I’d like to continue to keep up in not only the new year, but forever!

Make A Habit Of Going To The Gym

YEP - there it is! The “go to the gym” new years resolution. Well, I already do go to the gym, I just don’t go as often as I should, or would like to. I ended up tweaking my back a few months ago in yoga, and I’ve been avoiding going back to not only yoga, but the gym for a while, somewhat out of fear of hurting it more, but also because I was just looking for an excuse not to go. My back is feeling much better now, and I’ve noticed it overall feels better when I exercise - plus with my upcoming trip, there’s going to be a lot of walking around, so I want to get in better shape for that!

Travel More

Lastly, I’d really like to travel more in 2020. I’m going on a trip soon, like I just mentioned above, but prior to that, it’s been 3.5 years almost since I went on a trip (New York City in October 2016!), and my significant other has definitely got the travel bug, so I’m really hoping that the two of us will get to travel more, and see the world together.

I think that pretty much sums up what my goals are for this upcoming year. I’m looking forward to what I already know is coming this year, and here’s hoping some of these above goals are coming my way too! What are some of your goals this coming year? Feel free to comment below - but otherwise, until next week! Xo.
