Airport Style: Three Ways

I think something that we can all relate to is the desire to want to look at least, kinda cute while travelling - particularly flying - but not wanting to sacrifice being comfortable. Let’s be honest, we all know how a long flight can really challenge your patience and your comfort level. But realistically, athleisure is in right now, and it’s never been easier to look cute at the airport while still feeling and dressing extremely comfy! Today, I put together three of my favourite airport looks, that all put comfort & style first. Let’s get into them:

Outfit No. 1

Dressed Up But Comfortable

1. Jean Jacket | 2. Sunglasses | 3. Sweater | 4. Travel Wallet | 5. Scarf | 6. Leggings | 7. Backpack | 8. Nike Running Shoes

This is actually a very similar outfit to what I’ll be rocking to the airport for my upcoming trip. I think we can all agree that the key to maximum comfort while travelling is making sure you wear layers. One second it’s boiling hot, and the next second you’re absolutely freezing.

When it comes to travel, there is no question about it, I’m going to be rocking some thick workout-style leggings. I can’t stand wearing thin material leggings where you can’t bend over without your pants suddenly becoming see-through. Bonus points for the fact that these Aerie leggings are super affordable at $60 CND, but if you regularly shop with American Eagle + Aerie, you know that there’s almost always a sale going on, so if you’re interested in these leggings & they aren’t currently on sale, I’d encourage you to wait if you can. Next, I’d pair these leggings with a bold coloured sweater, so you can stay warm & cozy on your flight, and layer a jean jacket over top for extra warmth, if needed. As far as shoes go, I love to wear my running shoes on a flight since they generally take up the most room in a suit case, so you can free up some space in there & be comfortable (also - do not ever take your shoes off on a plane… seriously. For your sake & for others sake…). If you’re still looking for even more warmth & coziness, adding a scarf can not only provide warmth, but also act as a neck pillow, if needed.

To accessorize this outfit, I’d add some pink sunglasses to not only compliment the outfit colour-wise, but also provide some extra sun-blockage if you’re looking to take a nap on your daytime flight. To keep all of my important travel documents including hotel confirmations, boarding passes, passport & currency, bringing a travel wallet will be a blessing for keeping all of your documents in one place & organized. Lastly, to carry all of your belongs, add a beige backpack that not only will allow you to have access to both hands, but looks great with the outfit too.

Outfit No. 2

Laid Back & Relaxed

1. Oversized T-Shirt | 2. Leggings | 3. Cardigan | 4. Satin Scrunchie | 5. Passport Holder | 6. Calvin Klein Unlined Bra | 7. Belt Bag | 8. Nike Running Shoes | 9. Baseball Hat | 10. Sunglasses

Let’s admit it, sometimes the thought of wearing anything that isn’t the softest material ever seems like an absolute no. If I’m being honest, because I work in a very casual office, most of the time I can’t even bring myself to think about putting on jeans instead of leggings, or a button down instead of a sweater. So for all of you who value comfortable more than anything, I get it & this look is for you! Cute, but very comfortable & relaxed.

Starting with a simple oversized t-shirt, that’s either graphic or plain & pairing it with some patterned jogger-style leggings will help you look put together by pairing the loose shirt with the form-fitting pants, and create some visual interest using colour & pattern, making the outfit comfortable, but still looks put together. By adding in some sleek white Nike running shoes, your outfit will go from leisure to athleisure, making it very stylish & trendy! If you’re feeling a little chilly, adding this chunky cardigan will keep you warm, while still keeping you from looking like you just rolled out of bed. I think one thing all bra-wearers can agree on is that bras are the exact opposite of comfortable, but going bra-less isn’t always the best option for everyone. If you want to still be comfy, throw on a Calvin Klein unlined bra for support.

I don’t know about anyone else with long hair, but the last thing I want is for my hair to be down, especially if I’m warm. Throw your hair up in a satin scrunchie will not only keep you cool, but since scrunchies are super on trend right now, it’ll really compliment your outfit, and you have the added bonus of no damage to your hair, since scrunchies prevent this. If you are rocking the scrunchie bun, opt to bring some sunglasses to block out any light from other peoples windows that may just be hitting your eyes at the right angle. If you do have your hair down, but maybe your hair could use some TLC, opt for a baseball hat instead. Lastly, keep your passport safe in a passport holder, and keep yourself hands-free by using a generously sized belt bag to keep all of your belongs in. All of these accessories to compliment your outfit will make you look super trendy, while keep yourself comfortable for your entire flight.

Outfit No. 3

Jillian Harris Inspired

1. Smash + Tess Sunday Romper | 2. Apple Watch | 3. Jean Jacket | 4. Striped Scrunchie | 5. Backpack | 6. Sunglasses | 7. Travel Wallet | 8. Toms Slide On Shoes | 9. Scarf

Of course, I had to include an outfit that was completely inspired by my favourite influencer, Jillian Harris, which also features some of my absolute favourite brands & stores to shop at. I can speak from personal experience that the items from Smash + Tess, Chelsea King & Shady Lady Eyewear are all fantastic pieces that I absolutely recommend! So let’s get into the break down of this comfy airport outfit.

Is anyone planning any fun mid-winter trips this year? If so, what are you planning on wearing to the airport? I know I’m definitely going to be going with a bit more of look number one, at least on my way to my destination… coming back, I feel like I might look a bit more like outfit number 3 - extra comfy. See you again on Tuesday for the last post of January, where I’m going to be kicking off a new monthly blog series! Any guesses on what it could be? Leave your guesses in the comments! Xo.
