Unboxing The Fall 2020 Jilly Box
Hello all, and happy Wednesday! It’s that time again – the latest Jilly Box has arrived at my front door, and like always, when receiving the latest quarterly box, I’ve got this blog post written & photographed as quickly as possible so you all could see what Jillian and her awesome Jilly Box team put together for us. If this is your first time on my blog - welcome! If you’ve never heard of The Jilly Box before; a quick overview would be that it’s a box filled with Jillian & her team’s favourite things, delivered on a quarterly (seasonal) basis, and I am one of the lucky few - approx. 5000 of 10,000 boxes - who have a subscription. The chance to purchase one of the remaining 5000 boxes are “auctioned” off to those on a waitlist, and that’s pretty much all the details of it! Now, let’s get into the good stuff – what was in the Fall 2020 Jilly Box?
Face Polish & Application Brush
Eluo
Alright, let’s hop right into it! The first product/brand I pulled out of the box were these two items from Eluo: a facial polish & application brush. Like I mentioned at the beginning of this blog, since I try to get this post up as quickly as possible, I haven’t yet had a chance to give this facial polish a try - or well, to be honest, I have yet to even figure out exactly how you’re supposed to use it since the facial polish comes in a powder form. My best guess would be to add water and use the brush to apply it as a clay-like mask. Either way, I’m really excited to give this product a try because as much as this pandemic has allowed me to stop wearing make up as often, my skin is always in need of some TLC.
Mustard Bath Salts
Barefoot Venus
Yes, you did in fact read that correctly – mustard bath salts. But no, it’s not quite what you’re thinking. Upon opening the box, you can immediately smell this product & oh wow, does it smell amazing! I’m undoubtedly an absolute sucker for anything eucalyptus scented, so when I read that this product was a “mustard bath”, I was definitely intrigued. After reading over the main ingredients in this product from Barefoot Venus, it suddenly all made sense – the main ingredient being mustard seed powder! All of this to say, I can’t wait to take a nice relaxing hot bath when the weather cools down just a bit more than it already has (hot baths in 25 degree celcius + the humidity weather isn’t exactly the most appealing thing), and I know I’ll feel so refreshed & relaxed.
Long Sleeve Be Good Shirt
All Things Naturally Pretty
When I opened the box up and saw this shirt from All Things Naturally Pretty, it really didn’t come as a surprise since Jillian revealed it on the blog around the time when subscribers would be able to start selecting add on’s for this box. Long story short, if you saw my last Jilly Box blog: Unboxing The Summer 2020 Jilly Box, you’d know there was some confusion on the wearable item. Well, after that all happened, I’m thankful Jillian and her team gave the option to see the wearable item in this box so we could make a more informed sizing decision! But, just because I knew about this item, doesn’t mean I wasn’t super excited to get it. I haven’t yet worn it because of the above mentioned 25 degree + humidity weather, but also because I want to wash it before wearing (shoutout to COVID-19 for making me a bigger germaphobe than I already was!), but I did quickly try it on to make sure I liked the fit, and I loved how light weight but cozy it was. I opted to go up a size for extra coziness, and I’m so happy I did!
AromaOm Petite Diffuser & Unwind Diffuser Blend
Saje Natural Wellness
If you follow me on Instagram (which you should if you don’t yet), you may have seen my quickly recorded IGTV unboxing of the fall Jilly Box – shout out to my sinuses for betraying me mid-recording on that one… But if you didn’t, let me quickly tell you what I thought about this product from Saje Natural Wellness. I did everything I could to avoid spoilers in this box, but unfortunately, not being in BC, sometimes you accidentally see things on peoples stories who got their box sooner than I did - no big deal, really. One item I did end up seeing was this diffuser kit & I thought for sure this had to be the big-box item for this seasons Jilly Box – keyword: thought; check out the next item for what actually was the big-box item. This will be my third diffuser & I love this one so much because of how tiny it is! It’s the AromaOm Petite, and makes for the perfect diffuser to have on my work from home set up. I did already have a full size Unwind diffuser blend though, so I gifted that to my mom for her diffuser.
Mini Honour Stud Earrings
So Pretty Cara Cotter
The big-box item! Yes, according to the Jilly Box magazine (see a bit further below in this blog for something cool about this seasons Jilly Box magazine), these bad boys were the big-box items, valued at $110CAD. I’m such a huge fan of a simple, everyday earring, and I’m always looking for more to add to my collection, so when I opened the box up and saw these gorgeous studs, I was a very happy camper. I’ve never owned anything from So Pretty Cara Cotter, but even after just trying on these studs, I could feel the quality in them, so I think it may be safe to say this isn’t going to be the last item from them that I own…
Blush Pink Scarf
Jackson Rowe
Last, but of course not least, this beautiful blush pink scarf from Jackson Rowe. When I started thinking about what could possibly be in the Fall Jilly Box, the first thing I initially thought was maybe a scarf – and quite honestly, I really was hoping for a scarf, so when I opened up the box and saw this, I was over the moon! I love how soft the pink is, and how soft the actual scarf is as well. I can already picture a big oversized cable knit cream sweater, with faux leather leggings, booties & this scarf on a crisp fall day. Pumpkin patch or apple orchard trip, anyone?
Add-On: Polka Dot Scrunchie
Chelsea King
And now, for the add on item I purchased! There were two add ons available for this box, one being a gorgeous Crawford Creek wooden serving platter, reminiscent of the one Jillian created with them for her Etsy x Jillian Harris Holiday 2018 collection, but on a smaller scale. Unfortunately, I did not get this item since quite honestly, I didn’t really have anywhere to store it… or I absolutely would’ve. But, I did end up picking up this very autumn inspired Chelsea King scrunchie! When Jillian revealed the add on items for this box, she mentioned that it’s got a Pretty Woman inspiration/vibe behind it, and if I’m being honest, I’ve actually never seen Pretty Woman… so I didn’t get it. But apparently it looks like a dress Julia Roberts wore in it! (I know, I’ll get on watching it, don’t worry).
Though the breakdown of the items in the box may be done, I had to include a photo of the Jilly Box magazine… because my photo from Instagram is in it! Carrie, Jillian’s graphic designer, reached out to me back in July to see if they could use my photo in the Jilly Box magazine, which of course I said absolutely, yes! So to see my photo in there, that was so exciting for me, and I definitely fangirled a bit knowing that Jillian’s team liked my photo enough to feature it in the fall issue of the Jilly Box magazine.
Another Jilly Box season come and gone just like that! But fall is just around the corner and I cannot wait! I’ve got my new AromaOm Petite going with my Allergy Release blend as I write this blog (if you know the seasonal allergy struggle, you know), and I’m so excited to put these items to use as the weather cools down over the next few weeks - only 34 more days until fall is officially here! I hope you enjoyed reading this unboxing as much as I love writing these blogs; they seriously are one of my favourites to do & I’m very much looking forward to my first winter/holiday box coming up in November - but until then, I’ll see you again on Friday for a new blog post!
