My Fall Fashion Favourites
I know some of you must be thinking “It’s still August, I’m not ready for summer to be over yet! Stop talking about the fall.” Well, I hate to break it to you, but only one week from today is September 1st, and we’re only a few short weeks away from the official start of the autumn solstice. Even though 2020 has been the year from literal hell, I can’t help but think about how quickly it’s gone by, all things considered. But, I have to say I’m pretty happy about it - not only is fall my favourite season (+ my birthday season!), but the closer to the end of this year that we get, the sooner this nightmare pandemic is done & over with. With autumn quickly approaching, I’ve already started to put up some pumpkins in my home, and have begun my online window shopping for all the new fall clothes that I want to add to my closet, and I’m sure as you can see from the title of this blog, I’m sharing my current favourites with all of you!
The staple item in my closet as soon as the weather starts to cool off is a good, cozy sweater. In my opinion, you can never have too many sweaters… However, I know for a fact that my family would have to highly disagree on that one. Quite frankly, I think they’d like it if I got rid of some sweaters! But alas, I just keep adding to my collection & I’m hoping to add at least one or two from this selection to my wardrobe this fall; my favourites are definitely the AE Off-The-Shoulder Sweater and Aerie Wrap Back Sweater.
I don’t know what it is about this year, but I’ve been absolutely loving a good pair of denim pants! In the fall, I like to switch it up, and wear a skirt or a dress with some tights every once in a while, but for some reason this year, my heart is 100% drawn to jeans. Particularly, light-medium wash jeans with slight rips in the knees, apparently! But, you also truly can’t go wrong with adding a pair of the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings to your closet; in fact, they’re the pair of pants I find myself gravitating to the most year-after-year, and have yet to go out of style.
When thinking about shoes for the fall, I almost always find myself instantly thinking of knee-high riding boots & a cute pair of heeled ankle booties, but one thing I always forget is that you can also rock a cute loafer or mule in the early, far less cold, days of autumn as well. When checking out Nordstrom’s latest fall additions to their online shop, I fell in love with the Remi Mule; not only do they look super comfy, but the colours scream fall & I could instantly picture these slide ons with a pair of denim jeans & an oversized sweater on a cool fall day (plus, they’re super affordable with the Nordstrom Anniversary sale going on, right now!)
I’ve said it before, and I’ll gladly say it again - accessories are just as important, and if not, maybe more important to making your outfit come together as selecting the right pieces! These are just a handful of the accessories I found myself adding to my cart, and then seeing the price total, realizing I’m not a millionaire, and removing from my cart almost as quickly as I put them in there. 2020 being… well, 2020, I had to include this adorable AEO Leopard Mask + Scrunchie matching combo from American Eagle, because I think it’s safe to say we’re going to be wearing masks for the foreseeable future, and quite honestly, why not make it fashionable?
It’s hard to believe how quickly this year really is going by, especially because it’s just been so awful; but hey, if you’re like me, you’re probably welcoming fall & all things pumpkin spice with open arms & excited about actually looking forward to things again, even if it’s trivial little things like the PSL coming back a bit earlier than usual - we all need a little pick me up, right?
