The Jilly Box Hamptons Dress, Styled 4 Ways

Welcome back to my little corner of the internet! If you’ve read the title, which I assume you have, you’ll know that this blog post will be all about styling the Summer Jilly Box Hamptons Dress 4 ways. You may be wondering, “didn’t Emily say she wasn’t a fan of this dress?”, and yes, I did that say, and I stand by it. That dress did not fit my body type well, and it probably never will. If you’d like to check out a full review, pop over to my Unboxing The Summer 2020 Jilly Box blog to check it out.

Getting back to the topic at hand – yes, I am not a huge fan of the material or fit of this dress myself, but there are still plenty of people who love the dress on their body, and let’s be honest, the dress itself is super cute & I wish the material had more give to it so it’d fit me properly! All of this to say, I still wanted to write this post, showing the four ways I’d style this dress if I could wear it comfortably, even though it doesn’t work for me.

Collage for casual look

1. Jilly Box Hamptons Dress | 2. AE Classic Denim Jacket | 3. Keds x kate spade new york Triple Decker Glitter Slip Ons | 4. Chelsea King Linen Wildflower Scrunchie | 5. JH x Melanie Auld Adorned Necklace | 6. Pixie Mood Christy Crossbody Bag | 7. Hayley Sunglasses

When I first saw this dress, I pictured it as the ultimate casual, day-to-day summer dress, which is what I think Jillian was going for when she worked with the team at Priv to create it. The Hamptons dress being a linen material makes it the perfect lightweight dress to have in your closet for those super hot summer days; plus it is absolutely adorable. The way I’d be styling this dress to wear it out casually would be by pairing it with a Classic Denim Jacket & some super comfy slip ons, like these Keds x kate spade new york Triple Decker Glitter slip on shoes. You can bring this look together by accessorizing it with some cute sunglasses - if you want to rock the Jilly Box chic look, go with the Hayley style from Shady Lady Eyewear - a Crossbody Bag, a simple necklace (if you love Jilly, I can’t recommend her Adorned collection with Melanie Auld enough), and finish it off by throwing your hair up in a Scrunchie to keep cool, but still look super cute & effortless.

Collage for work look

1. Jilly Box Hamptons Dress | 2. Mauma White Women’s Wedges | 3. Tutti Fruity Cherry Linear Earrings | 4. Kate Sunglasses | 5. Pixie Mood Clara Tote Bag Cloud | 6. Rosefield The Small Edit Two-Tone Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch | 7. Long & Lean-Fit Linen-Blend Blazer

Just because this dress is a light, summery, more casual piece, doesn’t mean this can’t be easily dressed up in a more professional way to make a great dress for you to wear to work…well, whenever we actually go back to work. Since the dress is relatively simple, both in style & pattern, a fun, but professional way to play up this dress is with a striped Blazer in some neutral colours that compliment the blush pink. Throw on a pair of White Espadrilles, and accessorize with a Two-Toned Watch (so you’re never late for your meetings), and some Cherry Earrings to add something a little fun to this look. Don’t forget your Tote Bag to carry around all of your important documents, and make sure to bring along a pair of white sunglasses, like the Kate Sunglasses from Shady Lady Eyewear to throw on to-and-from work.

Collage for beach day look

1. Jilly Box Hamptons Dress | 2. Round Straw Tote Bag | 3. Hayley Sunglasses | 4. Slide On Sandals Straw Beach Sunhat | 5. Jillian Harris x Tofino Towel Co. Jilly Box Towel | 6. Straw Beach Sunhat

Along with wearing this dress casually, I so quickly pictured this as a great dress to rock when going to the beach (or lake!), and I thought it easily could be used as a swimsuit cover up as well. Starting with a cute one piece (or two piece if you prefer!), and pairing it with the perfect large Round Straw Tote Bag, the Jillian Harris x Tofino Towel Co. Jilly Box Towel as your towel to put down while you soak up the sun (don’t forget to bring your SPF, and soak up the sun responsibly!), a Straw Beach Sunhat to protect your head (yes, this is very important too), and a cute pair of beachy Slide On Sandals. Don’t forget to protect your eyes from those rays by bringing your Shady Lady Eyewear Hayley Sunglasses, and you’ll look like you walked right out of a Jilly Box!

Collage for night out look

1. Jilly Box Hamptons Dress | 2. Goldplated In a Flutter Drop Earrings | 3. SEA H2O Lip Gloss (Resort Life) | 4. Lovely Sunglasses | 5. Nina Gia Glitter Rectangle Clutch | 6. Vegan Suede Moto Jacket | 7. Disco Raffia Platform Sandal

Last, but of course not least, this dress can easily go from day-to-night as well! Whether you’re going out with friends or out on a date, this would make for a great piece to catch up with friends over coffee, or enjoy a delicious dinner with someone. If you’re going to be rocking this number out at night, no matter what time of the year it is, it inevitably gets a little chillier at night, so make sure to grab a jacket like this Faux Suede Jacket to keep you warm as the sun goes down. Accessorize your night-out look with a sparkly Clutch (and this one is on sale!), some 70’s inspired Disco Raffia Platform Sandals & a simple but chic pair of drop Earrings. If you’re going to be out during the day before meeting up with your friends or date for the evening, grab a pair of bold sunglasses, like these Lovely Sunglasses from Shady Lady Eyewear that compliment the blue of the clutch, and the pink of the dress. Finish off this retro, pastel-inspired look with a bold Red Lip Gloss to add a super bold element to this neutral outfit that is sure to catch some attention.

Let me know in the comments below if you’re going to be styling your dress for any of these looks. I know some of these things like going into work & going out with friends for an evening aren’t exactly the most plausible scenarios right now, but when life gets back to normal, will you be doing this? I’m also curious to know how many of you loved this dress & find it really comfortable to wear! Let me know & see you again on Friday for a new post.
