Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas

Everyone knows the stress of not really thinking about your Halloween costume, and then suddenly it’s October 26th and you realize you have absolutely no costume idea in mind for handing out candy, or any parties you’ve been invited to. Now, of course, with COVID, this year is a bit different - I’m sure some places are allowed to have trick-or-treating still, but a lot definitely aren’t, which also means Halloween parties are an absolute no-go (I’m serious, please don’t).

Just because Halloween is “cancelled” this year, doesn’t mean that we can’t still get dressed up and enjoy the holiday in the comfort and safety of our own homes. So, if you’re finding yourself in the above mentioned dilemma of wanting to get dressed up, but realizing you’re a bit too late to get anything, this blog post is for you.

Sandy from Grease

I’m about 99.9% sure that Sandy from Grease is on just about every last minute Halloween costume list, but it’s for good reason - it’s really a simple costume that you can put together with items you more than likely already own. You just need a black shirt, black leggings (preferably shiny ones, if you’ve got them), some heels & a faux leather jacket and you’re pretty much set.

Vampire

You can’t leave dressing up as a vampire off the list, can you? It’s a simple enough costume too, and something you can probably use mostly items you already own. A dress, or a shirt & some leggings - whatever the weather calls for, maybe a cape, some stockings, boots & of course, faux vampire teeth, and you’re ready for a bat-tastic night (was that too cheesy? Probably).

Witch

Another classic, but easy to make costume is a good ole witch. Similar to the vampire costume, you can easily just grab any colour of dress from your closet, add some stockings, witchy boots, and maybe even a cape. Don’t forget to get yourself a witches hat, but that can be found just about anywhere! Maybe even your closet from costumes past.

The Original iPhone

This was actually my costume last year! My boyfriend and I dressed up as Steve Jobs and the original iPhone. It was actually a super easy costume to make - just get a cheap black t-shirt (you’ll want a loose one), some fabric paint & glue, and print out a photo of the original iPhone, and glue it to your shirt.

Deer

A doe, a deer, a female deer. Or a male, if you want. But this last minute costume is perfect if you’re good with makeup. Just look up some deer make-up tutorials or reference photos, and you’ll be good to go. I personally am a fan of the ones that are Bambi’s-Mother style (if you get what I mean); not that I like that in real life, but it makes for a great Halloween costume.

Scarecrow

Lastly, another costume that can be easily thrown together with items you more than likely already own! You can throw this costume together with a flannel, jeans (or overalls, if you’ve got them), boots & a floppy hat. To really tie the look together, you can always stuff some dried hay in your costume, though I can’t imagine that’d be super comfortable, and add some scarecrow style makeup to finish it off.

Are you dressing up for Halloween this year? Honestly, I don’t really know if I am yet! If I don’t, I’ll definitely be rocking some Halloween-style “regular” clothing. Come back on Wednesday for a new spooky blog post - it’s one I really can’t wait to share with you all!
