My 2023 Trend Predictions

If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don’t, you should!), you might have seen a few weeks ago that I put out some of my trend predictions for 2023. I know not all of you follow me on there, so I wanted to bring those predictions & elaborate on them here. It includes everything from home, fashion and even beauty trends, so let’s talk about what I think we’ll see a lot of in 2023.

Beauty Trends

01. SHORT + SQUARE NAILS WILL BE THE GO-TO

I personally think we’re going to see a step back from the long acrylic nails in 2023. Why, you may wonder? I feel like this year is going to be all about leaning into more “natural” things, including a more natural looking nail. Even the girl that does my manicures has said she’s noticed more people (myself included!) going for a short, square nail shape now.

02. NATURAL & EFFORTLESS MAKEUP

Semi-piggy backing off my last prediction is that we’re going to see that desire for a more simplistic, natural look continue in the beauty world. With the pandemic, makeup became less popular, and skincare was number one. In 2023, I think it’s going to be a balance of a solid skincare routine (that isn’t 10 steps), with light and simple makeup looks.

03. BANGS WILL MAKE A COMEBACK

I was trying to figure out when the last time I had bangs was, and let me tell you, I really had to dig into my old photos for this one because it’s been six years since I did anything with my hair that was a big drastic change as far as a cut goes, and I don’t know if it’s just because I’ve recently done it, or it really will be trendy, but I think you’ll see the return of all sorts of bangs including curtain bangs, side bangs & a full on fringe.

Fashion Trends

01. GOODBYE LOUNGEWEAR

I am wholeheartedly convinced we’re going to see less sweat sets, no makeup & messy buns in public in 2023. We’ve all been dressing super comfort for about 2-3 years now, but I can’t help but think that a lot of people are getting bored and are ready to accessorize. I know I am definitely putting more effort into my looks when I leave the house again.

02. EUROPEAN STYLE WILL BE POPULAR

Could this be me loving European style in comparison to North American style? Well, maybe, but I personally think we’re going to see more of what you’d expect to see in Europe in the streets here. Think, more blazers, dress pants with sneakers. Almost like an elevated business casual but very relaxed.

03. LOTS OF SIMPLE JEWELRY PIECES & MIXED METALS

Minimal, dainty jewelry, I would say has been “in” for the last few years, but in 2023, I think we’re going to see those dainty pieces in a higher amount, mixed with more chunky, but still simple pieces as well. Additionally, we’ll also see more mixed metals.

Home & Decor Trends

01. HOME DECOR WILL BE COZY

Gone are the perfect looking homes in 2023, at least in my opinion. This year, it’s all about creating cozy, mismatched homes with more vintage & antique style furniture pieces. I think a lot of people are looking to create a home-like feeling like they experienced when they were kids, and want that nostalgic coziness rather than the most Instagramable space. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m loving this style because it reminds me of my best childhood memories.

02. GOODBYE ALL WHITE WALLS & LIGHT + AIRY HOMES

In similar relation to the above trend, I think we’re going to see the official end of all white everything homes, and it will no longer be about having a light & airy space! Taking it one step further, I think we will see more browns, beiges, greens and even blues in home decor, styling and furniture selection — colours that make your space feel like home, and less like a magazine.

So those are my trend predictions for 2023! Let me know what you think in the comments below — do you agree, disagree or have your own prediction? Don’t be shy!
