My Favourite Thanksgiving Foods
I can hardly believe there is only just over a month left until Thanksgiving (and my birthday, woo!). I’m super excited to enjoy in the first holiday of the year that involves strategically wearing stretchy pants that need-not be undone after the meal. I know a lot of people really hate to see the end of summer, but there’s nothing quite like holiday meals, am I right? Well, today I want to share with you some of my personal favourite foods for the Thanksgiving season! So, let’s jump into it.
A Vegan Roast
If you don’t already know, I’m vegetarian, so I haven’t had turkey on Thanksgiving, or Christmas in probably about 7 years now. Instead, I usually end up getting myself a vegan roast (no, not a Tofurkey either!), and my personal favourite is from Gusta.
Seasonal Root Veggies
Nothing screams fall & Thanksgiving to me quite like some seasonal root vegetables that are seasoned with things like thyme or oregano. One of my absolute favourite recipes is the maple & thyme carrots from the Fraiche Food Full Hearts cookbook by Jillian Harris & Tori Wesszer. It’s the perfect sweet and savoury combination for Thanksgiving dinner, and I don’t know about you, but I love maple in the fall!
Potatoes & Stuffing, duh!
I mean, is it really the Thanksgiving season without some sort of potato dish and stuffing!?! In my opinion, absolutely not. One of my favourite potato dishes, though simple, is garlic mashed potatoes. And as far as stuffing goes… once again, let’s talk about Fraiche Food Full Hearts, particularly Jilly’s Famous Stuffing! I’ve made this every year for Thanksgiving since 2019 and it’s something I always look forward to. It’s vegan, and can easily be made gluten-free by swapping the regular loaf of bread for a gluten-free loaf. Can you tell I love this cookbook for the holidays?!
Well, there’s a quick snapshot into some of my favourite Thanksgiving dishes and foods. I hope it gave you a little inspiration for your Thanksgiving meals this year. On another note, what are some of your favourite holiday dishes? Let me know in the comments below!
