My Goals for 2023

Here we are again — a new year, and new goals to think about. I always like to say that I don’t necessarily love new years resolutions, but there is something to be said, at least for me, that new years feel like a fresh start & an opportunity to get back on track with your goals, especially after the chaos of the holidays. It’s almost like a breath of fresh air! Going into this post, I broke it down into my life goals, professional goals & eco-conscious goals as these are the three areas I think about the most when I think about what I want to achieve in 2023. So, let’s jump into it!

Life Goals

1. SPEND MORE TIME IN NATURE

Regardless of the time of the year, I want to get out into nature more often in 2023. Whether that includes more gardening, winter walks with my husband & dog, or even attending more community outings that take place outdoors. The internet & social media have us all very connected to each other, but I’m longing for a connection to nature again.

2. GO ON OUR HONEYMOON

Now that our wedding has come and gone (and was already over 3 months ago, where did the time go?!), we’re planning on taking our honeymoon this year! We haven’t travelled since we went to Hawai’i in February 2020, and I can’t wait to explore the world again.

3. LEARN TO LET THINGS GO

Let things go, or even just learning to pick my battles on what upsets me. Sometimes, I’m a master of allowing things that shouldn’t bother me, to bother me endlessly and it results in a lot of negative energy. I’m hoping this year to work on myself and find ways that allow me to let some of these things just be.

4. GET BETTER AT STICKING TO FINANCIAL GOALS

I feel like every single year this comes up on my goals and then I come back to it each December and realize I could’ve done better. So here’s to another year of hopefully spending less frivolously and start spending (and saving) more wisely.

Professional Goals

1. CONTINUING TO GROW MY BRAND

I can honestly say that 2022 was the year of discovery for my brand. I always struggled with feeling too inspired by others, and not really 100% knowing who I was, and what my brand looked like on it’s own, and I can confidently say I feel like this platform is an even more beautiful, accurate reflection of me than it ever has been before. I can’t wait to see what growth comes in 2023.

2. INVEST EVEN FURTHER INTO MY BRAND

Much like I said in 2022, I want to invest more into my blog! Last year, I invested more money into programs & platforms to create a better, more on-brand experience for both myself and my community. This year, I’m hoping to invest more time into my platforms, as I felt like I truly lacked that, especially towards the end of 2022.

3. WORK WITH DREAM BRANDS

This past year has truly been more than I could’ve hoped for. I’ve had the opportunity to work with brands that I already had the most amazing experiences with, including Pokoloko, but I also got to work with new brands like Plant of Life & Neo Financial. But I must say, the most exciting thing was being able to say I was apart of the JVN Hair Community this year. I’m truly so grateful for that experience, and I’m hoping to continue these amazing partnerships and work with even more dream brands of mine in 2023.

Eco-Concious Goals

1. BUY LESS

This kind of goes hand-in-hand with my financial goals, but honestly, the older I’m getting, the more I’m realizing I don’t need a lot of stuff. I’d rather spend more on higher quality items less frequently than buy lots of cheaper items.

2. GROW MORE OF OUR OWN FOOD

I absolutely love growing flowers every summer, but in 2023, I want to take more time to learn what food we can grow given our lighting conditions and put more space into our garden plan for these kind of plants. Additionally, this will help us save at the grocery store too!

3. SHOP FOR MORE AT THE FARMERS MARKET

Even though we already get our eggs throughout the summer & fall at the farmers market, I want to shop for even more weekly staples this year. Not only is it helping your local economy & businesses, but it helps to put money behind farmers that aren’t sending their product as far, therefore there are signficantly less emissions.

There you have it — my goals for this year. I can hardly believe that 2023 will be four years since I started blogging. I absolutely love the creative space this platform has become for me, and I want to thank you for taking the time to read my blog & join me on this crazy journey. If you’re loving what you see, don’t forget you can sign up for my newsletter and get that content (plus exclusives!) delivered directly to your inbox & you’ll never have to worry about missing a thing!

Until next time, Emily
