My Summer 2022 Bucket List

Summer has officially arrived, and the temperature sure reflects it! It’s time to think about all things sun, gardening, relaxation, vacation, staycation, and everything in between. I’ll admit it, summer isn’t my favourite season… I get too hot very easily, mosquitos seem to find me like a magnet, the bugs (gross!) and I’ll never, ever get on board with the humidity, but there’s so much to love about the summer too! Longer days, spending time in the garden, swimming in the pool. What’s not to love about these things?! So, let’s talk about some of my bucket list items for this summer!

01. Spend Time at the Cottage

I’m so lucky to be marrying into a family that has a beautiful cottage that they open during the summer months, and it was a great place to bring Freddie, to enjoy the outdoors without the rush of the city. It also just so happens to be where we got engaged last summer, so the cottage holds a special place in my heart!

02. Create More Meaningful Content

You may be wondering “really, creating content?”, but yes, this is on my bucket list because it’s something I want to focus on more this summer. I may not have a huge platform, but ultimately, we all have influence. Starting in July, instead of celebrating Canada Day, I created a shop page dedicated entirely to Indigenous-made products and Indigenous-owned businesses!

03. Take a Trip

It doesn’t have to be far, in fact, we’re hoping to just take a little road trip to visit some friends in another city. The last trip we went on was to Hawai'i back in February of 2020, and with the wedding coming up, there’s no better time than now!

04. Actually Swim!

I think I went swimming maybe once last summer?! Which is funny because I actually love swimming. The only thing is, I’m not huge on swimming in lakes… something about the fish in there gives me the shivers in a very negative way, so I’m hoping to go swimming in more pools this summer.

05. Enjoy the Last Bit of Wedding Planning

The fall months are coming up, and they’re coming up very, very quickly. I feel like I blinked, and suddenly we’re in July, so next thing I know, it’ll be time to say “I do”! So many people have been telling me to enjoy it because it goes so fast, so I’m taking them up on that advice!

06. Spend More Time Outside

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with outside. I love the thought of it, but I get sunburnt so easily, and I cannot stand the bugs! Especially those little gnats that love to fly in your face and go up your nose (GROSS!). I’m learning to enjoy my time outside, but I’ll admit… this one may take some time & bug spray.

07. Shop the Farmers Markets Weekly

I can successfully say this one has been off to a really great start! Every weekend, my fiancé and I love to head out to one of our local farmers markets and pick up farm fresh eggs, vegetables & fruit. I recently got some local strawberries and oh my GOD, they were amazing!

08. Don’t Give Up on the Garden

I’ll admit it, I have a bad habit of getting “bored” with the gardening thing by August, but I’m trying to stick with it this year! I always joke I’m running two months ahead of everyone because by August, I’m truly sick of summer & ready to head into my favourite season, FALL! Yes, I’ll watch Halloween movies in August, sometimes even June, I love it that much. If I fail this year, can I blame it on my wedding excitement?
