How We're Including Our Dog On Our Wedding Day
You may or may not know, but I’m getting married later this year to my best friend! If you want to get caught up on all things wedding related, check out all of the blogs here. But, of course, we couldn’t imagine our wedding day without including our little babe, Freddie. Our dog is a huge part of our life, so it felt fitting to have him be apart of the big day. So, let’s talk about some of the ways we’re including him (because yes, it’s not just one thing!).
FIGURINE OF HIS BREED ON THE CAKE
I’m sure everyone has seen the photos of the little dog figurines on a tier of cake, looking like they’re taking a little bite out of it? I couldn’t get over how cute & subtle this little addition to a wedding cake was, so of course, I instantly started looking for a little Freddie to add to a tier of our cake.
NAMING OUR SIGNATURE COCKTAIL AFTER HIM
When we first started toying with the idea of what to name our signature cocktail, I pretty much knew I wanted it to be named after Freddie. Does it have anything to do with Freddie? Nope. It’s a Paloma. But, hey, it’s a cute idea!
INCLUDING HIS PHOTO ON THE SAVE THE DATE
What’s cuter than opening up a save the date than seeing a photo of the couple holding hands in front of their dog & he looks cute as heck? Nothing, in my opinion. But I might be a bit biased… 😉 On our save the dates, the star of the show was Freddie, and the words “My humans are getting married!” with the date & our names was plastered across it. As far as I was concerned, the invites would be more serious, but the save the dates were free game.
HAVING HIM BE THE RING BEARER
This one I’m not 100% sure is going to work out in all honesty. I really hope it does, but Freddie is a pandemic puppy, and therefore is not used to being around a ton of people. In fact, he’s quite reactive. We’re hoping his anxiety medication will do the trick, but if he’s not feeling up for it, we aren’t going to push him. Our back up plan is to have him join us at the first look and get photos of the three of us then.
So there are a few ways we’re including Freddie on our big day. I’m really hoping we can pull off having him at the ceremony, because I couldn’t imagine not having him there, but knowing we have a back up plan in place makes me feel a lot less stressed about it!
