My Thoughts on the Dyson Hair Dryer
After many, many months (I’m talking maybe a few years here) of deciding whether to take the plunge and invest in a Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, I finally decided that after a year of having no access to a blow dryer, it was time to invest into the highly sought after Dyson hair dryer. We all know that this hair dryer is by no means “affordable” — in fact, it’s $500 CDN. That’s definitely a good chunk of change to spend on a hair dryer for the average person, so I decided that I’d be the guinea pig for you all, and try it out over the course of a few weeks, and let you know my honest thoughts on it.
My Thoughts
I placed my order for the hair dryer in late July, and got it in the mail in early August. Of course, I couldn’t wait to give it a try, especially since I hadn’t owned a hair dryer in over a year, and I was looking forward to finally having an option between air drying and blow drying. I took a shower the night I got it, and gave it a whirl. It took around 15 minutes to get my hair from sopping wet, to completely dry which I was thoroughly impressed by, and even tried out the styling concentrator and smoothing nozzle attachments. Both I believe worked pretty well, but honestly I was having trouble navigating a blow dryer & hair brush since it was the first time I’d done it, ever.
The second time that I used the dryer, I put on the diffuser attachment since I have a natural wave to my hair, and again, it took some getting used to since I haven’t used a hair dryer in well over 5 years. Ultimately, now that I’ve used the attachments a few times, I’m finding myself primarily using the Styling Concentrator with a brush for a smooth look.
The Final Conclusion
My final thoughts on the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer is that it is a really fantastic machine. I’ve had it now for just over a month and a half, and I regularly use it post-shower. It makes my hair less frizzy, I love all of the attachments, the magnetic features and it’s really great for when I want to straighten my hair without using a flat iron. Getting this hair dryer really made me want to consider investing in the Dyson Air Wrap as well! Now, let’s quickly address the pros & cons of this hair dryer:
Pros
- Dries your hair quickly.
- The attachments work great, and I love that they're magnetic.
- Doesn't get too hot so it won't burn your hair.
Cons
- It definitely is very expensive.
- The handle is a bit heavy since it houses the motor, so holding it takes some getting used to.
Ultimately I’d recommend the hair dryer to someone if you regularly dry your hair, and want to cause less damage, and/or if you’re in need of a new hair dryer. That being said, if you already have a hair dryer and it functions well for you, I don’t think you need to upgrade to this one.
