Unboxing The Spring 2020 Jilly Box

Before I even start getting into this, I’ve gotta say I think this may be my absolute favourite blog post I’ve ever written, aside from those really awesome Honolulu blogs… those were amazing too. But, I’m sure you all know by now that I absolutely adore Jillian Harris. I’ve written a couple of blogs about meeting her, which of her collaborations I loved the most, but as you can see by the title of today’s blog - I got a freakin’ Jilly Box!

A little backstory into this, if you aren’t already aware from my previous post, but The Jilly Box is Jillian Harris’ subscription box, which on launch day in October 2019, had over 100,000 people waiting to purchase one, but unfortunately there were only 5000 boxes to be bought. Of course, Team Jilly could see the demand for the box, and did what they could to up the numbers in the most natural way possible, while staying true to their values & working with Canadian brands and businesses, which I so admire them for sticking to. Long story short, I didn’t fall within the first 5000 people to get a box, but was lucky enough to have been noticed by Jillian on Instagram where she asked me if I had gotten a box. Of course, you know how that conversation went. Jillian & her team announced they decided to change the box to a lottery system since they were increasing the number of boxes for round two, and they wanted to keep as many people happy as possible, so if you were randomly selected from the waitlist, you would be able to buy the box one time. Well… when the time for the second box came around in January, I was blessed with an email offering me a full-blown subscription! So expect much more of these blogs to come - but until then, let’s get into what the items in The Jilly Box Spring 2020 edition included:

* Note: If you want to purchase any of these items, make sure to check out the Jilly Box Market.

Rose Quartz Roller & Pheobe Facial Oil

Cardea Auset

Starting off with the Rose Quartz Roller and the Phoebe Facial Oil, both of these items in the box came from Cardea Auset! Let’s start with the facial oil. If I’m being perfectly honest, there’s an ingredient in the facial oil that doesn’t agree with my skin - but that’s not a testament to the quality of the product, that’s just my skin. I can tell that this product is a quality item, and even though my skin doesn’t agree with the product, I’m definitely going to hold onto this item as a beautiful decor addition to my make up table! (The packaging is adorable).

As far the rose quartz roller goes, I’m beyond in love with it! The moment you pick up the roller, you can feel the weight to the product, and you realize just how good quality the roller is. I already have a jade roller that I got for about half the price that this roller is valued at, and even though it definitely does the job, you can feel the weight difference between the two. All in all, I don’t think I would’ve spent the full price on the rose quartz roller if I hadn’t got it in the box, since, as I said, both the cheaper jade roller I already had and this roller do the job, but that being said, I’m super thrilled that this was a product in the box this quarter.

Glow Gradual Tanning Moisturizer

Luna Bronze

If you don’t already know, this seasons subscription box showed up four days after I left for my trip to Hawai'i. I’m so pale, I’m almost the same colour as paper, and I just don’t tan… except, well for the first time ever, I got a tan on this trip! Anyways, when I opened the box when I got back from my trip, I laughed so hard when I saw the Luna Bronze Glow Gradual Tanning Moisturizer in there because I instantly thought “this would’ve been perfect to use for my trip”. Although I’ve used the product a couple of times, and I like what I’ve seen so far, I’m really excited to really give this product a try during the summer, and see how it works with my fair complexion, as the product states it’s great for fair skin.

Mini Heart Prayer Beads

The Cross Decor & Design

So, I’m not going to lie, while I was gone on my trip, I definitely saw spoilers, and when I saw that the Mini Heart Prayer Beads from The Cross Decor & Design was in the box, I was so excited. I’ve wanted to purchase these prayer beads for as long as I can remember, but just never ended up purchasing them since they’re super affordable at $14.95 (CAD), and shipping under $200 is $10, so I never saw the value in ordering a $15 product, and pay $10 for shipping. That all being said, it was clearly a blessing in disguise having not purchased them in the past, and I am so excited to have added them to my decor.

Sea Salt & Seaweed Ylang Ylang Bath Salts

Surf Soak

I am absolutely obsessed with bath salts, so I am super excited to give these Sea Salt & Seaweed Ylang Ylang Bath Salts a try. I got a tattoo while on my vacation, so unfortunately I haven’t been able to take a bath for the last couple of weeks while it’s been healing, but now that we’re all good & healed, I’m going to be heading home tonight and jump into the bath and try these bath salts. Based entirely on scent, I am in love with the smell of these bath salts. If you like the Goddess scent from Saje, these bath salts would remind you loosely of that scent!

TruOrganic MCT Oil Powder

WithinUs

The withinUs TruOrganic MCT Oil Powder is another product I haven’t gotten around to trying quite yet, but something I’m looking forward to trying. Honestly, I haven’t even had a chance to really look up with MCT oil is good for or used for, but I know that it’s made from young coconuts, and when I tagged withinUs in an Instagram story while unboxing the Jilly Box, they messaged me saying you can add the powder to smoothies, coffee or tea as it’s virtually tasteless, so I’m really looking forward to giving it a try!

Greeting Cards

Minted

I’ve never had anything from Minted before, but anytime I’ve ever seen any Minted items on Jillian’s profile or blog, I’m always so blown away by the beauty of the items, and how everything looks like such quality stuff. One of my dream goals is to get a beautiful print and frame from them one day (they’re pretty expensive). These two Minted Cards came with envelopes, but I definitely took them and framed them to keep for myself instead.

Digital Gift Card

Jilly Digital

I was super excited to get a $50 Jilly Digital Store Gift Card so I could get her new preset, Rosé Love, as well as a couple of her prints. That being said, I was an idiot and did this in the middle of the night, bought the preset & two prints, and forgot to put in my code, so I ended up paying full price. Very on brand for me. But it’s okay, cause there was so many prints to choose from, I just used the code and got a couple of other prints anyways.

The Erinn Cardigan

The Skinny

This one, I think is what I was most excited for when I opened up the box! Like I mentioned above, I noticed some spoilers on The Jilly Box Instagram page before I got home to actually open my box, and when I saw this big cozy The Skinny Erinn Cardigan in the box, I was so excited. Living in Canada, it’s cold in February, and it’s the perfect cardigan to snuggle up in when it’s a little chilly at night. You can tell it’s a great quality item as it’s really heavy material and well sewn. Best part is that it’s available through The Skinny now, even if you didn’t get a Jilly Box!

Essential Bikini Underwear

Knix

You can’t go wrong with adding some basic Bikini Underwear to your collection. I’ve never owned anything from Knix before, but after trying these, it definitely won’t be my last item. The material is so soft, and the underwear are virtually seamless so you can wear them under leggings without feeling like you have lines showing through your pants. They’re definitely on the pricey side, but I absolutely love them.

Press for Champagne Watercolour Painting

Kaitlin Hargreaves

One of Jillian’s close friends and make up artist from Love it or List it Vancouver Kaitlin Hargreaves created an absolutely stunning watercolour of a Press for Champagne button on a very vintage, french style frame / doorbell combo. This painting features a lovely light pink background and I knew exactly where to put it because of it. I am lucky enough to have a little make up room, that’s painting a blush pink with gold polka dots all over the walls, and it looks absolutely perfect in there, hanging over my tray of nail polishes if you ask me.

Add-On: Jilly Candle

Milk Jar Candle Company

I decided to add the Milk Jar Candle Company’s Jilly Candle to my order, as I’m such a sucker for candles, especially one’s that are made in Canada & completely natural (do a little research on big-box company candles. Lots of chemicals, is the summary of it). I have absolutely no regrets adding this item to my Jilly Box. When I opened it, I instantly thought to myself “wow, this smells really familiar”, and I finally pin-pointed it to smelling almost identical to a Justin Bieber hair perfume I had when I was like, 14, hahaha. Brought me right back to the summer of the late 2000’s.

I hope everyone loved this more in-depth unboxing than what I did on my Instagram stories a couple of weeks ago! I’m super excited and feeling so, so blessed that I was offered a Jilly Box subscription, and I can’t wait to continue to share these unboxings with you all as the year goes on! See you next week for a new post. Xo.
