Styling Rompers For The Fall
I haven’t exactly hid that I’m someone who’s actively celebrating the end of the hot, sweaty, humid weather. I know there’s tons of you who are mourning the end of the summer and aren’t quite ready to pack away your shorts, tank tops & sandals. Well, even for me, as someone who’s been sporting a sweater (while sweating profusely) since mid-August, I’ve come to accept that where I live, there’s a brief few weeks at the end of August & beginning of September where we can have the best of both worlds – also known as cold in the morning, boiling by noon weather.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know I’m a pretty big fan of Smash + Tess rompers, and they’re probably my go-to loungewear since I have a romper for pretty much any type of weather Mother Nature can throw at me. Of course, with being at home most of this year (thanks, COVID…), I haven’t really had a chance to sport these pieces out and about, but now that we’re starting to venture out of our homes a bit more, and into the fun outdoor fall activities that await us, I’m sharing with all of you how I’m styling some of my favourite rompers this fall:
Starting with the Smash + Tess x Jillian Harris: Jillyalls seems like the best place to kick off this post. These were designed to be worn in the warmer weather, but like I mentioned before, where I live, there’s a brief few weeks in the fall (and frankly, in the spring too) where we start the day off freezing, wrapped up in a coat & scarf, and ending the day with just a t-shirt & jeans, and this romper is perfect for those days. Starting off with a white long sleeved white shirt under your Jillyalls (which you will need to wear something under this romper, given the design of it!), throw on a denim jacket on top, so as the day goes on & the weather warms up, you can remove your jacket to be more comfortable. Of course, for comfy shoes, you can’t go wrong with some slip-on sneakers, and to accessorize this ensemble, I’d add a pair of sunglasses & a stiff-brim fedora in a neutral colour.
The most classic of the Smash + Tess rompers, the Black Sunday Romper - if you ask me, it’s like the little black dresses of rompers; everyone needs one! You really can’t go wrong with a classic black outfit, and this one is not only stylish, but like every other romper from Smash + Tess, super comfortable. Personally, I’ll start wearing this outfit as the weather starts to stay consistently cool (like, 12 degrees Celcius kind of cool) since, if you ask me, it looks extra cute when accessorized! Pair this romper with a faux leather jacket, a warm toque (AKA, a beanie, if you’re not Canadian), a pair of heeled booties, some sunnies to protect your eyes from that autumn sunshine & a backpack for a day where you’re out running errands, and want to be comfy but also trendy. And if you’re like me, and still not leaving your house much, just wear this romper to bed, LOL!
Finishing off this blog post is probably my favourite romper in my collection, and without a doubt, meant to be worn when the temperature takes a steep dive, the Harris Hoodie. Another Smash + Tess x Jillian Harris collaboration (shocker, I know), this romper is made of a heavier material, and super cozy for laying on the couch with a hot cup of coffee - or tea - under a blanket, while watching a movie. But, this blog post isn’t about laying around on the couch. We’ve done that all year… time to get out & style this romper. Wear this romper to head out to the apple orchard or a pumpkin patch by rocking it with a long fleece jacket, your favourite Converse sneakers (I personally think you can’t go wrong with the low top white pair!), a crossbody bag to keep all of your goodies - including your mask! - in, and of course, you can’t forget a pair of sunglasses - it’s still sunny, even when it’s cold. This ensemble will be sure to keep you nice and toasty while you’re safely out & about, staying 6 feet away from everyone else.
Well, there you have it! These are all of the ways I’d style my favourite rompers in my Smash + Tess romper collection. If you’ve never purchased from them before, you might be a little alarmed when you see the price of these rompers, but you can rest easy knowing that the reason for this pricing is because they are all made in Canada! Which means that the people making them are making more than a few dollars an hour - suddenly, the price definitely seems far more worth it. Make sure to come back next Tuesday at 1pm EST for a new post!
