Three Rosés to Enjoy this Summer
It’s hard to believe how quickly summer came this year! Like, hello first day of summer 2021! Even though we’re definitely heading towards a more normal future, we’re not there quite yet, so it seems like we’ll be spending yet another summer indoors, social distancing & enjoying our own spaces. If you’re lucky enough to have an outdoor space, your home entertainment may include sitting outside on your porch, balcony or deck, sipping a nice cold glass of wine. I mean, hey, that’s what my summer plans are! Here are three of my favourite rosés to enjoy on a hot summer’s day.
SANDHILL ROSÉ — BRITISH COLUMBIA
Starting with one of my personal favourite rosés, that I think I have ever tried, is the Sandhill rosé. It’s, in my opinion, the perfect balance of dry to sweet, tastes amazing on a hot summer day, and though this isn’t really important, the bottle looks just as beautiful as the wine itself. Per the winery, this rosé features flavours of cherry, red berry, watermelon & blood orange, and finishes with notes of cranberry, currant & red berry tea.
LOLA ROSÉ — ONTARIO
If you’re looking for a sparkling rosé to sip on this summer, look no further than the Lola Rosé from Pelee Island Winery. In my opinion, it’s slightly on the sweeter-to-dryer side, and per the Pelee Winery website, features strawberry & blood orange flavours. One of my personal favourite things about the Lola Rosé is that in addition to purchasing a bottle, you can get this wine in cans as well as single-serving screw-cap bottles to easy, on-the-go transportation. (Please don’t drive & drive! I just mean, you can bring this to a picnic if you’re legally able, or outside without worrying about spillage or breaking a glass).
BASK ROSÉ — ONTARIO
Last, but certainly not least is a new wine that I’ve recently tried and that is the rosé from Bask. It’s a very dry wine that has no sugar in it! So if you’re someone who likes a dry wine, that isn’t super sweet this wine is absolutely for you. Per the Bask website, the wine features notes of strawberry & peach, which, in my opinion, are perfect flavours for summer. This wine is also a very affordable option if you’re looking to buy multiple bottles for an event (whenever we can have those again!).
So those are my three recommendations for rosés to enjoy this summer. What is your favourite rosé to sip on? If I’m being honest, I think my personal favourite of this list is the one from Sandhill, but I’d take any rosé given to me!
