Twisted Peppermint Eggnog
If you’ve been a reader of my blog for some time, this post might look a bit familiar to you! It’s one of my favourite little holiday treats, so I couldn’t help but make an entire dedicated post to this one cocktail recipe that I absolutely love so much. Based on the title, I’m sure you’ve figured out that there’s peppermint & eggnog involved, and to me, there’s nothing that screams “Christmas” more than those two flavours.
Even though this recipe is for a cocktail, you can easily serve this as a virgin by replacing the peppermint vodka with a shot (or more, depending on your taste) of peppermint syrup to add that fresh, peppermint flavour I look forward to each holiday season. So, let’s jump right into this recipe!
Like I mentioned at the start of this blog, this is one of my absolute favourite drinks/treats to enjoy & indulge in each holiday season, but specifically on Christmas Eve. Nothing gets me into the holiday spirit quite like a nice cold glass of eggnog, spiked with Smirnoff Peppermint Twist vodka. If you’ve never had this & you love peppermint flavour, run don’t walk to your local liquor store and pick up a bottle - not only will you love it, but it’ll make this recipe much easier to follow. The only thing that makes this recipe taste even better? When it’s served in the most beautiful glasses! It’s all in the presentation, am I right?!
Twisted Peppermint Eggnog
Yields One Cocktail
Ingredients
- 1 cup of Eggnog (Vegan eggnog can be substituted if desired)
- 1.5 oz Smirnoff Peppermint Twist Vodka
- Ice, to shake and to serve
- Crushed candy canes, for garnish
- Simple Syrup
Directions
- In a plastic bag, or preferably, a reusable bag, take one full sized candy cane, and crush with a rolling pin, or meat tenderizer to crush the candy cane to a relatively small size. Pour out the crushed candy cane onto a plate.
- Flip over your low ball glass, and lightly rim the edge of the glass with some simple syrup, ideally placed out on a plate. When the rim of the glass is well coated, roll the rim through the crushed candy cane to rim the entire edge of the glass.
- In a cocktail shaker, mix together ice, eggnog & Smirnoff Peppermint Twist vodka. Cover, and shake vigorously to combine.
- Fill a low-ball glass with more ice, and pour eggnog & vodka mixture over ice.
I hope you all enjoy this sweet and festive cocktail recipe! Please let me know if you end up trying this recipe out this holiday season!
