Unboxing The Winter 2020 Jilly Box
Taking a quick break from the Christmas content to bring you one of my absolute favourite blog posts to write, and the title of the blog completely gives it away ;) Yes, I’m back again to unbox with you all the Winter Jilly Box! This box is the one with the highest retail value, per team Jilly, coming in at just under $550. If you’re unfamiliar, the box is usually around $400 in value, so this is a huge jump in price, and I can’t wait to share with all of you what items are in this winter box. Let’s get started!
White Winter Toque
Joe Fresh
Let’s start off by talking about the most adorable white toque. Not only does it have a big pom pom on top, which is my personal favourite style of toque, but the material is so soft! It’s honestly kind of hard to believe the retail value of this item is only $16, so it’s affordable for everyone. I couldn’t seem to find it in the white on their website, but I did find it available in another colour — shop it here (+ it’s on sale!).
Sweet Fish
Smart Sweets
Honestly, when Jillian posted that they were shooting content for the winter Jilly Box, I’m not going to lie, I saw these in the background, so it really wasn’t much of a surprise to open the box and see a bag of these goodies. That being said, I was still super excited! If you’ve never tried the Smart Sweets Sweet Fish, I know they’re pricey, but they’re worth it, and you’ve gotta give them a try. They’re available at pretty much any grocery store!
Throw Blanket
Droplet Home Goods
This is a brand I’ve never heard of before, but on initially taking this blanket out of the box, it feels like a fantastic quality throw blanket. It’s a nice thick material and has the cutest little heart detail on the corner. One of my favourite parts about all of these Jillian Harris collaborations is how they ensure there’s something very “Jilly” about them & usually include her name on the item! Another highlight about this blanket for me is the fact that the company is woman-founded & products are ethically made! Read more about that here.
Detoxify Loose Leaf Tea & Tea Steeper
Living Apothecary
Okay, to say this is the biggest container of tea I’ve ever seen is an understatement! When I first pulled the container out of the box, I thought “there’s no way this thing is filled to the top” because it was so big — to my surprise it was. When I checked out the Jilly Box Magazine that comes with the box, it’s valued at $50! That’s a lot of tea. I love that they also give you a loose leaf tea steeper as well to make things much simpler & reduce waste. Though I haven’t tried the tea yet, I smelled it when I opened it up, and it seems like a fantastic tea especially if you’re feeling under the weather or need to be warmed up on a cold winter day.
Happy Place Sign
The Cross Decor & Design
Another little item that I happened to notice in the background of some of Jillian’s Instagram stories the day of the winter Jilly Box shoot was the Happy Place sign from The Cross Decor & Design. Funny enough, after longing for that little sign for years (of course, because of Jillian), I finally bought one for myself earlier this spring. So, while I do already have this sign, I’m happy to have another to keep in case I’d like to hang up a second one.
Santa Socks
Friday Sock Co.
Remember when we were kids and we’d get socks as part of our Christmas gifts and pretend to be grateful when we really wanted a new outfit for our Barbie doll? Well, they really weren’t kidding about when you get older, you actually get excited over socks because I think this may be one of my favourite items in the box, hahaha! Not only do I love that there’s little Santa’s all over them, but the bottoms also say Jolly At Heart, which if you know Jillian’s Jilly Prints from last year, you’ll totally understand that reference!
Jillian Harris Watch
Larsson & Jennings
Last, but certainly not least is the absolutely stunning watch from Larsson & Jennings, custom designed with Jillian — featuring her name and a heart. We got the choice between gold, silver & rose gold, and I chose the gold option. Not only am I obsessed with this watch (and the fact that it’s valued at $250!!!), but it will look great with my Jillian Harris x Melanie Auld Adorned necklace. Once life is back to normal, this will be the perfect watch to have for a dressed up look!
Add-On: Love Sweater
Brunette the Label
And finally, the add-on item I selected! Now, you might be wondering why there’s no photo of me wearing the sweater — well, that’s because I didn’t actually get it as an add-on item when I bought the box, but after seeing that it was still available in my size weeks after they opened it to the public for purchase, I knew it was a sign I had to get one (okay, maybe it wasn’t a sign and just pure dumb luck, but I went for it). Hopefully it’ll be here soon and I can give an updated full review of it, but I do have other Brunette The Label sweaters, so if it’s anything like those, I feel confident it will be high quality, soft & nice and warm for those cold winter days.
Update — July 27, 2021: To say I’m disappointed by this sweater is an understatement. Though it’s comfortable and cute, I’ve had to deal with the dye lifting around the neck not once but twice now. Yes, I bought a second one (I got a refund for the first one though). Given that Brunette the Label is generally pretty high quality, this was disappointing.
It’s wild to think that this is my fourth Jilly Box unboxing blog post! I’m still so grateful everyday that I was lucky enough to be offered a subscription from Jillian’s team. For everyone who doesn’t have a subscription, or hasn’t been lucky enough to win the opportunity to buy one, your time is coming. Stay hopeful — these boxes get better & better every single time, so I promise you’ll never be disappointed (or, at least I hope not!). See you again on Wednesday as we jump right back into our Christmas blog posts! I can’t wait for you guys to see what I have to share on Wednesday!
