Ten Things I Can’t Live Without

Hello and welcome back! It’s a new week, and it’s officially October by the end of the week - wild. As L.M. Montgomery wrote in Anne of Green Gables, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers”, because same - everyone loves October, right? Cool, but not too cool, the beginning of spooky season, Thanksgiving (here in Canada), Halloween, the trees changing colours, pumpkin & apple everything, my birthday! What’s not to love? Well, I could talk about my favourite month all day, but I digress, today’s topic at hand is actually a bit of a YouTube trend, that was started by GQ! It’s ten things that I can’t live without.

The first time I saw this trend was actually on James Charles’ channel, and I thought it was such an interesting topic. I feel like a lot of us are curious as to what other people can’t live without, especially in comparison to our own list of ten things. Now, I will say, this list is very product-based. It’s not “my family”, “my boyfriend”, as much as those are so true, and I’d take them over material objects any day, the purpose of this list is to talk about products that have become so a part of your life, that you can’t live without them! So, without further ado:

Adobe Creative Cloud

If you aren’t aware, I’m actually a full time graphic designer, so having the Adobe Creative Cloud on the list, really isn’t a huge stretch. I’ve become so accustomed to having constant access to these programs while creating that I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have access to them anymore, ahahaha. I use these programs not only everyday for work, but for any freelance that I do, as well as my own projects including this blog! Please don’t ask how much I pay for this every month though… it hurts my soul.

My BBxCollection Sweater Collection

Who doesn’t love an oversized cozy sweater? I love them so much that I have a full blown collection of crewnecks & hoodies from BBxCollection. Why do I love BBxCollection* so much? Firstly - it’s a Canadian small business and they have the softest, coziest & cutest sweaters, EVER. There’s something for everyone, and Megan even offers custom orders if you’re looking for something unique and special.

My iPhone

Yes, I hate this being on here just as much as you hate seeing it, especially so close to the top of the list (not that this is any particular order, really). But yes, my iPhone is on the list, and yes I’m definitely addicted to it just like pretty much everyone. That being said, I have this on my list particularly in 2020 because it’s been a blessing to have access to constant communication with family & friends during this uncertain time, and I’ve been so grateful that I can talk to those who I love, and don’t live with whenever I want.

Medication Container

Why does this feel so old putting a Medication Container item on my “I can’t live without this” list? Probably because it is, honestly, but I promise it’s worth it. I love having a container by day for my medications for multiple reasons; 1. I will always know if I remembered to take it since it’s organized by day; 2. I don’t have to think about it all week - just take my pills, and continue on with my day; and 3. It takes much less time to organize everything at once, than it does to open 5 pill bottles every single day. If you don’t have one already, do yourself a favour & get one.

Shady Lady Hayley Sunglasses

If you’ve been a reader of my blog for a while, you might have seen my Unboxing The Summer 2020 Jilly Box, and you would totally recognize these glasses & maybe even the story behind it. If you haven’t, firstly, you should go check out that blog! It’s one of my favourites. But secondly, let me give you a quick run down; the Shady Lady Hayley Sunglasses were a part of the Summer 2020 Jilly Box, and I was so excited about it since I almost bought them only a few weeks prior! I feel like they’re the kind of glasses that look great on just about any face shape, and are super affordable, well made & from a Canadian company!

Saje Safe Hands Antimicrobial Hand Lotion

What comes with washing your hands super frequently (yes, I’m washing my hands that often) is also having to moisturize your hands with lotion just as frequently - in fact, I just remembered to do it! Please hold for a hand lotion break… *Insert Jeopardy Music Here*. If you’ve been washing your hands as often as I have been, your hands are probably dry, itchy & cracking, and I absolutely swear by the Saje Safe Hands Antimicrobial Hand Lotion. It’s the only lotion that I find actually makes my hands feel smooth, moisturized and just overall, better.

Saje Diffuser

The title may be singular, but there are plural amounts of diffusers in my home. I’m a huge fan of diffusing essential oils - they smell incredible and can really invoke feelings of comfort and calmness within me. I like to have a diffuser in any major room in my home (living room, bedroom, bathroom - places that we spend the most time), and it’s my favourite way to get the room smelling fresh & clean. There’s so many sizes & shapes of diffusers out there for everyone depending on what they need, and so many different blends! There really is something out there for everyone. My favourite place to get diffusers & blends is from Saje Natural Wellness.

Rare Beauty Blush

This, of course, is a more recent find, but I’m so happy I gave it a shot. As you may or may not know, Selena Gomez has come out with her own make up brand, Rare Beauty (also available at Sephora), and to say I’m obsessed might be the understatement of the century? I’m actually not much of a blush person myself, but after getting a sample of the Rare Beauty blush in my previous Sephora order, I became obsessed & purchased it. The Soft Pinch Liquid Blush is a game changer! It comes in a massive bottle and you hardly need to use any to get massive colour pay off (Seriously, if you buy this, be very, very careful). I put one dot on each of the apples of my cheeks and it was way too much, but it was so beautiful and I love how natural & colourful the blush is. I can’t recommend it enough.

Amazon Fire TV Stick

Alright, let’s be honest - 2020 is the year of being stuck at home, and a lot of what comes with staying home is watching a lot of TV, movies, video games, social media… just generally, so much screen time. Side note, get yourself some blue light glasses! You need them more than you think you do. Anyways, back to the topic at hand - keeping yourself entertained at home. My Amazon Fire TV Stick is probably one of the best purchases I’ve made this year strictly because of one thing - everything can be put on it. What do I mean? Well, if you don’t have one, you might not know but the Amazon Fire TV Stick allows you to watch Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, Disney+, Apple TV, Spotify & so much more! It’s been a game changer for me since I couldn’t find one thing that allowed for all of those things to be in one space (aka, I finally don’t need a Chromecast and an Apple TV).

Allette & Co. Face Masks + Scrunchies

Lastly, but never the least, my Allette & Co. scrunchies, and in 2020 fashion, face masks! If you aren’t already aware, I’m a big scrunchie fanatic, and I came across Allison & her awesome scrunchies last summer when Jillian Harris (you had to know something related to Jillian would make its way into this list, right?) partnered with Etsy to create their second collaboration together for the summer (scrunchies that were a part of this collection shown above). Ever since I got myself these scrunchies, I’ve been obsessed! Not only am I supporting a fellow Canadian, a small business & a woman-owned small business, but they’re so well priced & hold my hair perfectly all day. Not only are her scrunchies A+, but she has the best, most comfortable face masks in so many colours, sizes & patterns!

That’s a wrap! Those are my 10 things that I cannot picture my life without. I thought this was definitely a fun trend to take part in, even if it was on a different platform from what I originally found it on. So what are your 10 items that you can’t live without? Let me know on Instagram & don’t forget to follow along if you want to be a part of my little corner of the internet, and come back on Friday for a new blog post! I think you’re all really going to enjoy this one.
