5 of the Best Moments of 2023

2023 was a year filled with super high highs, and a few very low lows – filled with everything from travelling to some of my dream destinations, to my first experience losing my job. Though life isn’t all rose coloured glasses, I think it’s important to mainly focus on the good, and today I want to share with you five of the most amazing memories that I created in 2023. So, let’s get into it!

01. OUR EUROPEAN HONEYMOON

I think this one kind of goes without saying, right?! Going to Europe has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and particularly to London and Paris, and somehow I was lucky enough to check off both of those cities on this one trip. If you know me, but you know that my top 3 cities I want to visit of all time are New York, London & Paris, and I can now happily say that I’ve been to all of them! We also spent some time in Amsterdam, which was my husband’s pick & I truly loved it there more than I thought I would. This whole trip was incredible, and I hope to go back at some point!

02. GREW NEW FLOWERS (SUCCESSFULLY!)

If you’ve been following along with this little adventure of mine, at the start of the pandemic, I got really into gardening and even more so in the last couple of years. In 2023, I decided that I was finally going to try growing flowers (and some produce) from seed/corm/tubers and I am happy to report everything was super successful! So successful in fact, that my mom and I are embarking on an adventure to grow an entire raised garden bed of a even bigger variety of cut flowers, and expanding upon the ones we grew last year!

03. MET MATTY MATHESON!

This one requires next to no explanation. I got to meet the Matty Matheson at his restaurant, Rizzo’s House of Parm this summer, and it was such a cool experience, and absolutely incredible food. 10/10 highly recommend if you’re ever in the Toronto area!

04. CELEBRATED OUR ONE YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Like… obviously, right?! My husband and I got to celebrate our very first year as a married couple in 2023, and that was pretty incredible. Though, I have to admit, hard to believe we’ve already been married over a year, and we’re rapidly approaching on a year & a half already… time – slow down, babe!

05. ENJOYED THE HOLIDAYS LIKE A KID AGAIN

Last, but certainly not least – because I lost my job, and I was essentially jobless over the holidays, I tried to find the silver lining in this whole situation, and decided to really lean into enjoying the holidays like I would’ve if I was a kid. I’ll be honest, the holiday magic will never, ever be the same – but it was nice to relax more & not feel an ounce of guilt (not like I would’ve anyways, hehe!).

So those are my top 5 memories of 2023. I cannot wait to see what 2024 has in store for me, and I have a feeling it’ll be great. What were some of your favourite moments or memories from 2023? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time, Emily
