Spring Cleaning: My Favourite Natural Cleaning Supplies

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, I don’t think it’s any secret that I’m a big fan of natural products. Over the last few years, I’ve found myself going towards more natural products in beauty, skincare, and even scents to fill my home (my personal favourite thing to use is a diffuser with essential oil blends from Saje!). This change is definitely not limited to home cleaning products.
Right before the pandemic started, I had pretty much switched all of my all-purpose cleaners to more natural options with significantly less intense smells. Fast forward to March 2020, I went back to using strong, chemical cleaners, for obvious reasons. Now, I’ve gotten back into the swing of using natural cleaning products again, and I couldn’t be happier. In today’s post, I want to share with you some of my favourites!
Laundry
TRUEARTH ECO-STRIPS LAUNDRY DETERGENT
Starting off the laundry category is the number one thing you need to do said laundry – detergent! Over the years, we’ve made the switch as a family to use concentrated detergent strips since they are significantly better for the planet, use no water, are zero-waste, and since the packaging is so small, easier to ship.
SAJE SWEET SHEETS ESSENTIAL OIL & WOOL DRYER BALLS
This is a tried-and-true product for me. A few years ago, after seeing Jillian Harris promote these dryer balls with the Sweet Sheets essential oil on her stories, I instantly grabbed my own. They add the most incredibly fresh, yet subtle smell to your clothes from the dryer, and are much less wasteful than a traditional dryer sheet (and completely non-toxic).
If I really want that sweet sheets scent to pack a punch, I’ve just changed the bed, or I just want to freshen up the furniture, I give our fabrics a spray with the Sweet Sheets linen spray. It’s the same scent as the essential oils that go on our dryer balls, so it’s consistent with the scents we already have in our clothing.
NELLIE’S WOW STICK STAIN REMOVER
I absolutely swear by this stain remover! Having a dog ultimately means there’s just lots of stains, lots of mud and a lot of spills (that tail of his is a little wild + at the same height as our coffee table!), and this stain remover has always gotten the job done! I highly recommend.
Kitchen
THE UNSCENTED COMPANY DISH SOAP
We’ve recently made a switch over to using this brand’s products, and I am so happy with the results! Having a dog, I like to use unscented dish soap to wash his bowls, and since it obviously doesn’t make sense to have different dish soaps, I use it on our dishes as well. They’re cruelty-free, vegan, and earth-friendly (biodegradable in 28 days!), plus, there are so many products to choose from, including their hand soap, which we use & love.
Though I’m the first to admit, I don’t use this dish brush to wash my dishes (I use a dish rag!), using dish brushes is my favourite way to initially get food residue off of my dishes before I wash them. It’s great because I can easily change out & compost the head of the dish brush when it’s starting to not look or work great, making it zero waste!
Bathroom
After cleaning my toilet with a regular cleaner, I could not stand the smell of the chemicals and artificial scent used in the product, and that’s when I knew I needed to make a switch. Swapping over to a more natural and less chemically harsh toilet bowl cleaner was the way to go for me.
One of the best products that Saje has brought to market in the last few years has without a doubt been their 3 cleaning kits – multi-surface, window & glass and then of course, the bathroom cleaning kit. I love how easy it is to mix the concentrate with water, and I use this all over my bathroom including on the counter, the toilet (the outer part + the lid) and the taps!
Truly, I don’t think this one needs a lot of explanation… bathrooms get smelly sometimes, and I’m a big fan of how fresh, and natural this room spray smells! Plus, the bottles are truly gorgeous and work as a piece of decor!
General Cleaning
SAJE GLASS & MIRROR CLEANING KIT
I am wholeheartedly just obsessed with all of these cleaning kits from Saje! They’re refillable with just the concentrate and some cool water, and get rid of all of the streaks on my windows and mirrors.
SAJE LIQUID SUNSHINE ROOM SPRAY
Liquid sunshine is without a doubt one of my absolute favourite scents to use in the spring. It’s citrusy, but not overwhelming, and is the perfect spring-to-summer transitional scent!
I have to admit, I’ve gotta get a little better about remembering to grab these over a traditional piece of paper towel – but they’re seriously amazing and they can go in the washer to be sanitized.
SAJE MULTI-SURFACE CLEANING KIT
My latest obsession is using this Saje Multi-Surface spray on absolutely everything. I pull this multi-surface cleaner out on a daily basis, and in fact, I’m almost out of it and I’m panicking about it because I need to go get a refill! I love that you can just purchase a refill of the concentrated cleaner, like the other cleaning kits & easily replenish your cleaning stash!
There you have it! My favourite natural cleaning products. For me, the pandemic had definitely put a real dent in the fight for more eco-friendly products, and I know that I haven’t been perfect, but I’m back at it, and it’s nice to feel like I’m putting an eco-friendly foot forward again.
