I Have An Exciting Announcement

Welcome back and welcome to my first week of 3 blog posts a week, with a new schedule! This is going to be a bit of an adjustment for me, and I know, you might be thinking “it’s not that big of a difference”, but I’m going to be honest – I can be a total procrastinator. I’ll leave stuff until the last minute, and I am definitely guilty of doing that with this blog sometimes. There’s definitely been times that I’ve worked on blog posts the night before they were supposed to go up! That being said, I’m hoping to get ahead, get a bunch written in advance so they’re ready to go on time.

Now, let’s talk about the real reason you’re all here - the title of this blog! You’re probably wondering what exactly my exciting announcement could be. 2020 hasn’t exactly been the best year for most of us; between Kobe, wildfires, COVID-19, floods & other natural disasters, 2020 has been the year of suckiness. That being said, a lot of people had a really wonderful year - some people got married, some people had a baby (or babies!), and for those people, I am so happy for them. So, without further ado, my exciting announcement is…

We’re Getting A Puppy!

Let me give you a little background on this little sweetheart! This is Freddie* - I say, he’s named after Freddie Mercury, my boyfriend says otherwise & thinks we’re naming him after someone named Freddie Gibs? Gibbs? I’m not sure. Apparently he’s a rapper. Goes to show how much I know, huh? Anyways – Freddie is a Bernese Mountain Dog, and at the time of writing this blog post, he is just over 4 weeks old. We got the opportunity to meet our little pupper friend this past weekend (safely, of course!), and we absolutely fell in love with him. He’ll be officially a part of our pack on November 7th, so less than a month away now, and I absolutely cannot wait to snuggle him.

I know so many people are going to wonder why on earth I went with the puppy route & not through a rescue. Let me explain – during COVID, if you’ve been looking to adopt a dog, you know it’s been a nightmare. And I feel like nightmare is a generous word in this case. Every rescue is either virtually empty (no dogs to be had), or they’ve got 100+ applicants per dog, giving my boyfriend & I not much of a chance given that we don’t have a fenced in backyard, which many rescues deem a requirement. When we started looking at the breeder option, most were full for the next year! Yes, you read that correctly - the next year. We wouldn’t be able to get a dog until October of 2021. When we had just accepted the fact that we probably were at least a year away from a dog joining our lives, a friend of mine had just announced that her two Bernese mountain dogs were expecting (by two, I mean their male & female were having a litter together), and if you know me, you know my dream dog has always been a Bernese mountain dog. So no, as much as I’ve never been a fan of going the breeder route, I know they came from a safe, healthy & loving family who aren’t exploiting their dogs & for that, I’m so grateful.

I hope this announcement was as exciting for you guys as it was for me! I can’t wait for Freddie to join us, and to take so many photos of him as he grows & gets bigger (and lord knows he will get bigger). Thank you for reading today’s super exciting post, and don’t forget, Tuesdays are now no longer posting days, so come back on Wednesday, October 14 & Friday, October 16 for new blog posts.
