My Carry-On Must Haves
Can you tell there’s a bit of a theme going on over the last month or so? Mid-winter travel is all on my brain, and unless you haven’t figured it out by now, I am definitely travelling for a little mid-winter vacation this year. I don’t get to do it often, but I’ve been so excited to provide content for everyone that is focused on travel, despite the fact that I’m by no means a world traveler. But I still think I have lots of fun information to provide you guys with. At this point, I’ve taken my vacation, and I can now stand 100% behind this list of my carry-on bag must have’s for you, so let’s get into it:
Sleeping Mask
Unless you’re doing an over-night flight, picking yourself up a sleeping mask to keep in your bag is definitely a need. I’m not someone who is necessarily bothered by sleeping with lights on (I’ve definitely fallen back asleep weekday mornings with the lights on - if I’m tired enough, I’ll fall back asleep, haha), but sometimes adding the sleeping mask while you’re trying to get some shut eye on a plane will help you to keep your mind a little calmer, and won’t allow you to constantly be opening your eyes, and looking around, which is something I definitely do, so a sleeping mask helps me focus on trying to get some sleep.
Brita Water Bottle
I normally wouldn’t suggest purchasing a water bottle that’s made of plastic, even if it is reusable, however depending on where you are travelling, and if you’re anything like me, you might want to have filtered water. Yes, I’m that weirdo that pretty much exclusively likes filtered water through a Brita. But in all honesty, any reusable water bottle works, so whatever kind you’d like to use, just make sure it’s in your carry-on, and stay hydrated!
Chargers
This is probably the most important one on my list, if you ask me. This may not be such a necessity if you’re on a shorter flight, but if you’re on a double-digital length trip, I highly recommend making sure any chargers you need are on hand. And regardless, if you’re checking a bag, there is always a chance it could get lost, so you don’t want to go days without your charger until your luggage is found. Just do yourself a favour, and put any chargers you may need in your carry-on. The most important ones for me are my chargers for my phone, wireless headphones & e-reader since these are the things I use the most to keep myself entertained for long periods of time.
Noise-Cancelling Headphones
I really don’t think I need to go into detail about why noise-cancelling headphones are a must for a flight, do I? In case I do have to explain - screaming children. That is all. However, it’s also nice to have them around so you can watch movies or listen to music or podcasts without listening to the humming of the plane, or other people chatting around you. Overall, having a pair of noise cancelling headphones is just great for life in general, so you should definitely invest in a pair at some point.
Extra Clothes
Like I mentioned when I was talking about keeping your chargers in your carry-on, you should definitely do the same with at least 2-3 days worth of clothing as well. Mistakes can be made, and sometimes your luggage can get put onto the wrong flight, forgotten, lost, who knows! So make sure that you have at least a few days worth of clothes in your carry-on bag juuuuust in case that happens to you. I, for example, make sure I pack a pair of pajamas, three days worth of clothes (in the case of my current trip: two pairs of shorts, one pair of leggings & three tops, a baseball hat & one swimsuit), and all of my undergarments.
I hope this helps with anyone who’s planning on travelling during the winter season to make sure they effectively pack for what they need access to while in the travel mode. If anyone is taking any trips, leave a comment below telling me where you’re going, I’d love to hear! Otherwise, you’ll see me again on Friday for a new post! Xo
