My Favourite Swimsuits For Your Winter Getaway
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I’m sure from my past blog posts, it’s been well established that Valentine’s Day is one of my favourite days of the year. I’m not really sold on the whole commercialism of it, myself, but I just love heart shaped anything and everything, so I really hope you have a wonderful day! Getting into today’s post, I’m breaking down my favourite swimwear for all of you, including both bikini tops, bottoms & one-piece swimwear, with styles that will work for everyone regardless of body type, style, colour or how much coverage you like. Let’s start with one-piece swimwear:
One-Piece Swimsuits
1. Aerie Strappy Back One Piece | 2. Gingham Reversible One Piece | 3. Aerie Wrap One Piece | 4. The Plunge One Piece | 5. The Ruffle Sidestroke One Piece | 6. The Ruffle Backflip One Piece
1. Aerie Strappy Back One Piece: This style of one-piece is what I’d equate to the little black dress of swimwear. The style is classic, and something I believe that everyone should have in their swimwear collection, regardless of the colour! This swimsuit provides you with more coverage, so it’s great for when you really want to be active and swim, play volleyball or whatever, and you won’t need to worry about any clothing mishaps. This swimsuit is linked in pink, however comes in multiple colours & patterns - just search the name of the suit, and you’ll see everything that is offered! They’re also all on sale, making it a great swimsuit at an extremely affordable price.
2. Gingham Reversible One Piece: This piece gives me major old-school, 1950’s swimwear vibes and I love it! I’m a big fan of the whole everything-that-is-old-is-new-again kind of pieces that we’re seeing become trendy, and I’m an absolute sucker for a good gingham print. This is another suit that provides you with a good amount of coverage, but has a dip in the back to show some skin. The highlight of this piece, in my opinion is the fact that it’s reversible (gingham or black), providing you with two swimsuits in one! It is a little more on the pricey side, but a good quality swimsuit is worth paying for, and like I said, you get two for one.
3. Aerie Wrap One Piece: You’re going to notice a theme of a lot of Aerie swimsuits in this post - I’m warning you now! This is another swimsuit from them that provides a good amount of coverage, however also has a little slit in the front that shows a little skin, with a lower neckline. It’s definitely a very feminine style of swimsuit, and is perfect for laying by the pool. Depending on your bust size, you may not want to wear this doing a lot of activity in case of any slips. My favourite thing about Aerie is the fact that most of their stuff comes in a plethora of colours and patterns, and this swimsuit is no exception. The link provided takes you to blue, olive green & black, however a quick search of the swimsuits name, and you’ll see more colours and patterns. Some are even on sale for as low as $18 CAD!
4. The Plunge One Piece: Another company I am thoroughly obsessed with is Summersalt. I discovered them through Jillian Harris (shocker, I know), and their swimwear is beyond good-quality. Be prepared to pay a little bit more for these pieces as they are not cheap at (generally) $95 USD per one-piece swimsuit, but I promise they are worth it. This particular swimsuit is probably my favourite style of all of the one pieces on this list as it’s a classic look for laying pool-side or on the beach. Summersalt swimsuits do fit on the snug side, however I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this style of suit for heavy activity since it only provides gentle support in the bust, because of the style. This is another suit that comes in a variety of colours, but my personal favourite is the Mumbai Block Print.
5. The Ruffle Sidestroke One Piece: Another Summersalt swimsuit makes the list! This style of swimsuit will provide you a bit more coverage than the style that I just talked about above, but with one side being strapless, just be aware that a good strong wave can cause lots of mishap for half of your chest, haha! Aside from that, this is another great quality suit that looks cute, will make you feel comfortable & covered, and also comes in a few colour choices for you to pick from. The highlight of this swimsuit is definitely the ruffle detail that is so well done. Again, the price of this swimsuit is $95 USD.
6. The Ruffle Backflip One Piece: Last, but of course not least, I’m finishing the one-piece swimsuits list off with another Summersalt piece. This one is very similar in fit and shape to The Plunge One Piece, however I’m obsessed with the subtle ruffle details on the straps of this swimsuit. If you ask me, this is definitely a swimsuit for any Jillian Harris fan, like me, as it looks so Jilly! This piece comes in four colours for you to pick from, and once again, is $95 USD.
Bikini Tops
1. Aerie Leopard Wide Strap Scoop Bikini Top | 2. The Triangle Bikini Top | 3. The Fused Delta Bikini Top | 4. Aerie XO Ribbed Cropped Bikini Top | 5. Aerie Longline V Scoop Bikini Top | 6. The Mesh Diver Bikini Top
1. Aerie Leopard Wide Strap Scoop Bikini Top: I am all about leopard print on anything, so of course this top had to make the list. The great thing about this style of bikini top too, is it just seems to look great on everyone, no matter what. It’s got pretty good coverage considering it’s a bikini top, and it’s definitely one you could splash around in the ocean water without worrying about a wardrobe malfunction. It’s also extremely affordable! At full price, it’s $44.95 CAD, but it’s often on sale for anywhere between 25% and 50% off, so it’s definitely accessible to most. The link specifically is for the leopard print version of this top, however it comes in so many colours and styles - just search the name on the Aerie website, and take your pick!
2. The Triangle Bikini Top: Now, if I’m being perfectly honest here, this isn’t exactly a bikini top that works very well for me, as I do prefer a little more coverage and support, but for anyone who loves a good triangle bikini top, this one is for you! At $50 USD for the top, it’s a little on the pricier side of the budget, but it’s another great option from Summersalt, which as I mentioned plenty of times before in this post, they are a stellar brand with really excellent quality items. The only downside of this top, in my opinion is that it only comes in three colour options.
3. The Fused Delta Bikini Top: For any bustier ladies out there who want to have some serious support, this bikini top is designed for you. Made more like a bra, this top has an underwire so provide you with serious support! As much as this top may have a bra-like underwire, it’s still extremely cute, and has a very classic look to it. Again, this Summersalt bikini top is a little pricey at $50 USD, and comes in only three colour options, but for someone who needs support to feel comfortable, I’d say this is a great investment piece.
4. Aerie XO Ribbed Cropped Bikini Top: This top may be one of my absolute favourites on the list! I love this top since it’s so different from what you’d normally see, and it’s super great for people who want a little extra coverage while in a bikini. Plus, if you’re anything like me, it’ll definitely help you not get a shoulder sunburn which would be lovely, haha. At full price, this top is $49.95 CAD, but like I mentioned before, Aerie almost always has a sale going on, so you can definitely get it for cheaper than that. Again, much like the other couple of top options, this one only comes in three colour choices.
5. Aerie Longline V Scoop Bikini Top: I would definitely call this bikini top, the top for those who like triangle bikini tops, but don’t necessarily like the lack of coverage. This is perfect for those of you who are looking for just that! (Hint: me. I am looking for that) The longline factor of this bikini top definitely makes me feel like I’m definitely in that top, and not going to have any mishaps! This is another affordable bikini top option at $39.95 CAD, but once again - always on sale, and comes in multiple colours! (Just search longline bikini top for more colours)
6. The Mesh Diver Bikini Top: And the last option on our bikini top list for this blog post. But this top certainly isn’t the least. Depending on what you’re doing, or how much coverage you like, this could be the bikini top of your dreams. I know if I’m someone who’s going to be surfing, playing volleyball, or even just hardcore swimming, I’d love this top as you are definitely not going to have any wardrobe malfunctions in this bad boy! This top is about as full coverage as it gets before turning into a one-piece, but is definitely still super stylish, and cute in a more athletic way. This is another Summersalt swim top, and is $50 USD, and comes in three colour options.
Bikini Bottoms
1. Aerie Leopard High Cut Cheeky Bikini Bottom | 2. Jenna Bikini Bottom | 3. Jetty High Waist Bikini Bottom | 4. The Ribbed Classic High Rise Bikini Bottom | 5. The Limited-Edition High Leg Mid Rise Bikini Bottom | 6. Aerie Ribbed High Waisted Bikini Bottom
1. Aerie Leopard High Cut Cheeky Bikini Bottom: I’m just going to start by prefacing this section of the blog post by saying that I’m really into high-waisted bikini bottoms, so forgive me in advance if you don’t like them, but that’s pretty much all you’re going to see here. Now, this swimsuit bottom is the perfect style if you ask me! It’s a good combination of super cute, good coverage where I want it and since it’s high-cut, a little revealing where I’d like it to be. These are probably my absolute favourite bathing suit bottoms I’ve ever owned, and I stand by that statement! These are from Aerie, (shocker, I know), and are super affordable, even at the full price of $39.95, but once again, this being Aerie, there’s always a sale.
2. Jenna Bikini Bottom: Another fantastic option for a bikini bottom, these come in three colour choices - my personal favourite being the emerald green, and are $117 CAD. Yes, these bottoms are a bit more on the pricey side, but they’re another great option if you’d like a high waisted bottom that provides some coverage, but also shows a little bit of skin, and as long as you don’t mind spending a bit more, they’ll serve you well.
3. Jetty High Waist Bikini Bottom: These bikini bottoms (does anyone else just think of Spongebob everytime I say bikini bottom?) are very similar to the ones above when it comes to style, but unfortunately only come in the one colour/pattern option, and with the added detail of the bow, add an additional amount onto the overall price, making these bottoms $131 CAD. But again, quality costs some money, and Frankies Bikinis are definitely a quality brand.
4. The Ribbed Classic High Rise Bikini Bottom: I am obsessed with these bottoms as an option for days when you’re wanting to cover up a bit more. They provide lots of coverage in both the front, and the back, as well as the stomach area. These would be my go-to bikini bottoms for days when I was going to be going to a BBQ & swimming hang out. Not only would this provide me comfort of feeling covered, but also, again because this is Summersalt, the material really gives you that held in feeling. This style is available in three colours, and costs $45 USD.
5. The Limited-Edition High Leg Mid Rise Bikini Bottom: This is the one and only swimsuit bottom that definitely isn’t by definition a high-waisted style. However, they do come up to a comfortable point where you don’t feel super exposed either. My favourite thing about these bottoms is how many colour and pattern options it comes in! There are six options, allowing you to mix and match with a solid coloured top very easily, and costs $45 USD.
6. Aerie Ribbed High Waisted Bikini Bottom: Much like the Summersalt Ribbed Classic High Rise Bikini Bottom, these bottoms will also provide you with more coverage than the rest of the options on here. My favourite part of these bottoms is the ribbed details on the side, which add a little bit of visual interest to the bottoms so they don’t just look like a standard pair of black bottoms. The bottoms linked are in black, but also come in two other colour options (just like before, just search the name), and are $39.95 CAD original price, but again, always on sale!
Are you still with me? If you are, thank you so much for reading all the way through this rather lengthy post. If you’re not taking a little vacation this winter, I hope this post at least provided you with some inspiration of swimsuits you may want to pick up for the summer - next thing you know, it’s going to be June! Until next week, and Happy Valentine’s Day! Xo.
