Creating My Dream Kitchen

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been pretty much obsessed with any kind of design. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a fashion designer, then later an interior designer & finally settled on graphic design as something to study and make a career out of. Just because I settled on graphic design though, doesn’t mean my love of other types of design — interior design being number one (I’ve even thought about going back to school to study it).

When I was thinking about what kind of content I’d like to bring to my blog for 2021, I thought it might be interesting to take a look into an almost series-like set of posts, showing you all what I’d create in a home of my own if I didn’t have to worry about a budget. Today, I wanted to start with one of my favourite rooms — the kitchen. Let’s jump into it!

The Basic Elements

Though it’s easy to jump right into the decor, you’ve got to start with the basic elements including flooring, backsplash, faucets. All that fun stuff! As you can see, I’m into a pretty basic & neutral colour palette. I’ve always wanted a pretty much all-white kitchen (fun fact, if you have a small space, adding lots of white to that space will make it look larger!). I’ve always been drawn to how crisp & clean an all white kitchen looks, and when it comes to hardware, I’ve gone back and forth over the years between black & brass, but brass is truly what I love most. Silver to me can feel too cool-toned, and I’m far more into warm tones — just look at the colours on my blog!

Let’s Decorate

Ahhh, the fun part! I’m sure some might think you can’t really decorate a kitchen, and that’s … well, I guess sort of true. You can decorate it for holidays, but I’m talking your day-to-day things like dish towels, crocks & framed art that you may hang in your kitchen here!

Though it may be a bit difficult to picture all of this put together, I think this blog post pretty much sums up the general look that I’d love to see in my dream kitchen. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to make this come to life!

I can’t wait to create more and add to this little series I decided to put together. I think next space I’d like to create for this series will be my dream living room, followed by my dream bedroom & my dream bathroom. Please let me know if there’s any other spaces you want to see in this series. See you again on Friday for a new blog post!
