Highlights of 2020
It’s easy to take a look at the last year of our lives & think it might have been wasted time. I mean, hey, it’s definitely frustrating to know that we’ve spent almost a year of our lives like this. But, as much as there were tons of awful things that happened in 2020, (is it just me, or does “tons” still feel like the absolute understatement of the century?) I think most of us got to experience at least some good things too, so I want to share some good things I experienced in 2020 with all of you, which was inspired by Jillian Harris’ post, The Best of 2020.
Please know that I don’t want to devalidate the pain & suffering many people felt last year; I just want to take some time to reflect on the positive, so that when we look back at 2020 and remember what an awful year it was, we also think about the few good things too. I’d also like to say that this list is in chronological order, so please don’t think that this order by importance, haha.
Got a Jilly Box Subscription
At the top of 2020, I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to purchase not just the Spring 2020 Jilly Box, but a subscription, after I wasn’t able to get one when the Jilly Box launched back in October of 2019 — I guess all of my years of likes & comments paid off! To say that I was blown away & extremely grateful was an understatement. To date, it’s probably one of my favourite purchases given the price-to-value.
Travelled to Hawai'i
If you’re new here, you may not know that in February 2020, my boyfriend and I travelled to Hawai’i for the first time; Oahu, in particular, and boy did we absolutely fall in love with it there. Funny enough, this was kind of our compromise destination after going back and forth on where we wanted to go, but it quickly became one of our favourite trips, and when this pandemic is a distant memory, we hope to travel back to Hawai’i, but maybe to Maui instead.
Moved in with my Boyfriend
While moving in with my boyfriend was supposed to happen in June, COVID & temporary lay offs had a different plan in mind. That being said, it did eventually happen in 2020, and I couldn’t be happier. After almost 10 years together, we finally took the next big step and it was so much fun to be able to work and pick out furniture together.
Brought Freddie Home
If I’m being honest, I think this might be my biggest highlight of 2020… who am I kidding, it absolutely is the highlight of 2020 for me! Bringing Freddie into our lives was hands down the best thing to happen to my boyfriend & I, and as hard as it is training a puppy, we love him with every fibre of our being. I never thought that I’d ever get my dream dog (don’t ask me why, I just never thought I would!), and I’m so thrilled it finally happened.
Focused on my Blog
Last, but certainly not least, working from home cut out the commute time, so it gave me more time to focus on my blog & the goals that I had for it. Though I didn’t reach every goal, I moved from 2 blogs a week to 3, and even created an email list (you can sign up for it here, or on the side of this blog post!). I have so many more goals I want to hit, so with the continued extra time on my hands, I’m hoping there’s nowhere to go but up!
In an effort to continue the trend, what positive things happened to or for you in 2020? I know it sucked… believe me, it really did, but we’ve got to try and find the silver linings, right? Let me know in the comments below, and don’t forget to come back on Friday for the last blog post of the week. See you then!
