Decorating My Home for Halloween

It’s HALLOWEEN TIME!!!! I have been so impatiently awaiting this time of year! I love decorating for Halloween, and I’ve now got a good collection of decorations going, and being able to finally write this blog has me so excited to share all of my Halloween decorations, tips and tricks with all of you this year! If you’ve never seen any of my Halloween blogs before, you may not know that I love to DIY decorations, and generally keep it pretty simple so it doesn’t feel like a tacky (or scary) bunch of decor. Let’s jump into what I did for this Halloween!

01. Crows

One of the staples items in my Halloween decor is crows, which is funny considering how much I hate birds, but there’s a few things I love about using fake crows throughout my home during spooky season; first being that they’re easy to put in so many places without them being in the way. Some of my favourite spots to put them are on shelves & side tables, the media unit or TV stand, in faux or real potted trees and, my personal favourite in or on top of lighting like chandeliers (it makes it really spooky & seems like a natural spot crows would land!).

Another one of my favourite things is that you can either get cheap ones that are more affordable (I get my cheaper ones at the dollar store!), or you can invest in higher quality ones that you’ll have for a long time — or well, you can get a mix of both, which is what I did — regardless of what route you go, you’ll have them now, and it’s not something you need to replace yearly like faux spider webs.

02. Pumpkins

An easy one, in my opinion is pumpkins! I like to repurpose my fall decor and incorporate the fall faux pumpkins that I have in my Halloween decor. You can also easily go with a purely eco-friendly route at get real pumpkins that you can compost once they’ve started to rot & break down.

03. Bats & Spiders

Bats & spiders are other favourites of mine for Halloween decor. If you have an outdoor space to decorate, you can use faux bats that look like they’re “flying”, or, my personal favourite way of using bats in decor, you can have them appear to be flying “up” the wall! When using faux spiders, I like to use them in spooky ways like on top of faux skulls, on table tops and on shelves.

04. Ghosts

Last, but certainly not least, I love using ghosts in my decor! The way that I’ve chosen to decorate with them this year is with my beloved light that projects moving ghosts. I got it from Lowes a few years ago, and then it got stolen, and I was luckily able to replace it.

Though I mentioned pumpkins, ghosts, bats & spiders, I also love to decorate with witchy elements, faux spooky plants and other various decor!
