My Goals for 2022

It’s hard to believe we’re already over half way through the month of January, but I have such a good feeling about 2022! I feel like I have so many amazing things to look forward to this year, and I’m doing my best to not wish the year away while waiting for those exciting things. But, before I get too ahead of myself, I want to talk about my goals for 2022. As I’m writing this, I just read Jillian Harris blog about her goals for this upcoming year, and I loved the format, so figured I’d do the same!

Personal Goals

1. INCLUDE MORE PLANT-BASED MEALS IN MY DIET

If you don’t already know, I’ve been vegetarian for well over 5 years now, and in 2021, I was able to start cutting more animal by-products from my diet, including almost entirely ditching dairy, but in 2022 I’m hoping to be able to cut even more animal by-products from my diet, with a focus on reducing my egg consumption.

2. DEVELOP HEALTHIER EATING & EXERCISE HABITS

Yep, the one we all talk about every single year and almost all of us fail at within a month — eating better & exercising more. I’ve come to learn for myself personally, that physical exercise is something I’ve always had to force myself to do; so I’m not going to sit here & set a goal of “only eat salads & workout every weekday” because I just know it won’t happen. I like unhealthy food & I like sitting on my couch! Instead, I’m hoping to improve in areas that are realistic for myself — drinking more water, ordering less takeout & moving my body once a week, in whatever way serves me.

3. TAKE BETTER CARE OF MY HAIR

I’ve decided that 2022 is the year that I actually take better care of my hair. Not that I’ve ever treated it poorly… I get it professionally dyed & trimmed every 6 weeks, only use high quality products in my hair; but I’ve never truly put the time & effort into it with products & tools that are going to benefit my natural hair, texture & style. This year, I’m hoping to stick to a consistent & healthy hair routine!

Professional Goals

1. GROW MY BRAND

I must say, I’m not 100% sure what this means for myself yet. I know that I love creating content and could absolutely see myself turning this into a full time job for myself, and truthfully, that’s the goal, but the “business” side of business scares the hell out of me, if I’m being perfectly honest. That being said, you grow where you are planted, and I think it’s time I take a closer look at how I can grow this brand!

2. INVEST MORE INTO MY BLOG & SOCIAL PLATFORMS

Time, money, energy… all of it! In 2022, I’m hoping I’ll be able to invest more of each of these things into this blog, and my brand across various social platforms. I can honestly say that this brand has never felt more me than in the past few weeks when I decided to let go of some rules that I had placed on myself, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where it goes this year.

3. CREATE MORE VIDEO CONTENT

The dreaded video content... I can honestly say that when I saw that Instagram was going to push Reels over photos, and even more so in 2022, I hardcore rolled my eyes and complained about it to anyone who would listen. I’ve always considered myself a behind-the-camera kind of creator, but I know that to allow my community to see the me, and the kind of content that I want to create, I’ve got to get more comfortable with video content!

Miscellaneous Goals

1. GET BETTER AT & STAY CONSISTENT WITH COMPOSTING

Last year in 2021, I finally got myself a countertop composter to start composting and feel less horrible about the food waste we create. Well, to say it didn’t go great is an understatement. I’m definitely the first to admit I can be lazy… and I was quite lazy when it came to changing the compost bag… oops. So this year, my goal is to properly compost & get a composter for the balcony so I can use it for my plants!

2. STICK TO MY FINANCIAL GOALS

This one is honestly rough for me. I’m really bad for setting financial goals & then majorly straying from them (I blame you, Jillian Harris, and your bazillion adorable collaboration items you launch every year, haha!). This year, especially with my wedding coming up, I’m determined to stick to my goals & finish the year off knowing I did what I wanted to do.

So those are my main goals for 2022! What are some of your goals for this year? Honestly, I could’ve probably also added drink less wine to that list, but I know who I am… and that’ll never happen, haha!
