Not-So-Spooky Halloween Movies To Watch Tonight
Hello again, Happy Saturday & most importantly, HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Bet you thought with my blog post yesterday that this was all the Halloween content that you’d find on here. Well, here I am with a bonus blog post for you! I’m not going to lie, of course I wish that COVID-19 hadn’t ruined this year’s Halloween – this would’ve been an absolutely amazing year given that Halloween is on a Saturday, but, as I’ve mentioned time & time again on my little corner of the internet, we have to put our safety first.
Since trick-or-treating won’t be happening where I live this year, like I mentioned in yesterday's post, I’ll be curling up on the couch with some Halloween candy watching some Halloween movies. I’m not exactly into horror movies by any means, so my kind of movies to watch on this holiday are far more PG, and not overly spooky. If you’re like me, and your speed is more along the lines of not-so-spooky movies, this list is for you.
The Halloweentown Series
Starting off with my absolute favourite of all Halloween movies is the Halloweentown movie series. These are an absolute classic and make me totally nostalgic for my childhood. Quite honestly, I don’t have an idea of when the first time I saw the movies were, but I sure know I watched them every year. My personal favourite is Halloweentown High, followed very closely by Halloweentown, then Return To Halloweentown & lastly Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge. That being said, watch them in order! (Halloweentown, Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge, Halloweentown High & Return To Halloweentown).
Hocus Pocus
Another classic that you must watch if you haven’t already is Hocus Pocus. Who doesn’t love a movie featuring the sassy Sanderson Sisters? Rumor is they’re coming out with a new one in the coming years, and I’d be so excited to see what the concept of the movie would be. For now, I’ll be happy to watch the Sanderson Sisters figure out what a concrete road is in the 90’s, haha. In fact, I’m about 99% sure this is what I will be watching tonight… my boyfriend’s never seen it!
The Twitches Series
Along with the Halloweentown series, I always watched the Twitches movies when I was a kid, and quite honestly, I think the absolute best part of Disney+ coming out is the fact that I get to watch all of my favourite childhood Halloween movies. If you’ve never heard of Twitches before, the title pretty much says it all – it’s about twin witches, but that’s all I’m giving away – go to your Disney+ and watch it now.
The Scooby-Doo Movies
Was anyone else absolutely obsessed with Scooby-Doo as a kid!? I swear, before I even began to take an interest in Barbies, I was beyond in love with the Scooby-Doo cartoons that played on TV, especially the older ones. I have to wonder if that’s where my love of dogs came from… and speaking of Scooby-Doo, did we ever determine what kind of dog Scooby is? Well, needless to say, we all know that Scooby-Doo features tons of monsters, spookiness & mystery solving, even if it just ends up being people in disguise.
The Hotel Transylvania Movies
Probably the cutest of all of the movies on this list is the Hotel Transylvania movies. Cartoon Dracula, Frankenstein, and all of their other friends like a Werewolf family, and a Mummy, including their families on vacation to a hotel perfectly safe for monsters in a world full of humans that are afraid of them. You’ve more than likely either seen or heard of these movies, so I don’t think you need a full explanation, but either way, so cute & very on brand for Halloween.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Finishing off this list is what I would say, the spookiest of this list of not overly spooky movies. And the only reason I say this, is because, well, it’s a Tim Burton movie & we all know that Tim Burton loves to give off spooky vibes in all of his movies. Again, this is probably a movie that just about everyone reading this list has seen, but if you’ve never seen it, it’s time to sign up for Disney+ and get your spooky on. There’s also a ton of people who claim this is a Christmas movie, to which I say, you are wrong.
Are you watching any Halloween movies tonight? If so, which ones? Send me a DM on Instagram, and let me know. Have a very safe, and Happy Halloween everyone! Enjoy all of your candy & see you again on Monday for a brand new blog post.
