The Best Moments of 2024
Much like 2023, this past year has truly been one for the books. 2024 was filled with so many incredible memories, travels, and good times. Though, of course, like anyone, there were some sad, and not great times too – but let’s keep this blog uplifting, shall we?! When looking back on 2024, and trying to think of some of the best memories I have from this past year, there are a few that really stuck out more than others
01. GOING BACK TO LONDON & TO THE ERAS TOUR!
I think it goes without saying that this was probably the highlight of the entire year for me! Not only did I get to go back to one of my favourite cities in the world (and actually get to explore it more this time – read all about what I did while on my quick trip to London in this blog), see my friend who lives across the pond, but I also got to go to the freaking Eras Tour! As a Swiftie, this was such a highlight of my life, yet alone the year.
02. ATTENDING THE JILLY ACADEMY IN THE CITY
Another major milestone was getting to attend the Jilly Academy in the City in Toronto back in April. This was super last minute and crazy unexpected, but I’m so thrilled, honoured and happy I was invited to join. It was so fun to network with other incredible women, and since I had just started working again after getting laid off, it felt like a great opportunity to learn new things!
03. LEARNED SOME NEW SKILLS & HOBBIES
I’m not sure why, but this past year I found myself wanting to do more with my hands and creating things that wasn’t entirely based on a computer, so I decided to pick up an embroidery pattern, tools and materials and I created a couple of really fun embroidery pieces (based on Taylor Swift – shocker!), and now it’s safe to say, I’ll definitely be doing more in the future. In addition to embroidery, I also gave pottery painting a try, and that I just loved. I painted a whole set of new bowls, as well as a little ring dish that I gave as a gift to my sister-in-law for Christmas.
04. SPENT MY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND AT A CABIN
Somewhat piggy backing off of having a desire to not be on the computer, I also felt myself wanting to be outside even more. I already enjoy gardening in the summer, but it gets so hot and humid by the end of July, it’s hard to enjoy being outside. When the weather cools off in the fall, I love to go on hikes and take in the beauty of nature, so for my birthday, we spent a short weekend up at a cabin, and spent some time doing small hikes, making fires and roasting marshmallows. It was one of the best birthday weekends I’ve had in a long time, to be honest!
05. HIT (AND EXCEEDED!) MY 2024 READING GOAL
Last, but certainly not least, I not only hit, but exceeded my 2024 reading goal! I originally started the year hoping to read 12 books, which I ended up hitting around May. I decided to up it to 24, which I hit in by August, and since then I’ve read 31 books at the time of writing this blog. I’m hoping by the time the year actually comes to an end, I’ll have hit 35!
There you have it – 5 of the best moments of 2024. This year was such fun, and I know 2025 holds just as equally fun times ahead. Let me know one (or more) of your favourite memories from this past year in the comments below!
