Six Work From Home Items To Make Your Life Easier
I don’t know about you, but it’s official for me - it looks like at the earliest, it will be January 2021 before we even consider a return to an office environment. What a year this has been, huh? I know we all feel like it’s gone weirdly fast-slow; like it’s not actually October, it’s March 301st, but as we’ve officially been working from home for seven months now (wild), and while I’m sure most of us are now comfortably into our working from home routine, I’m sure we can all improve just a bit.
Today, I want to share with you all some of the items that I’ve found to make my working from home life a little easier. No, work-from-home isn’t for everyone, and while I quite enjoy it, sometimes I do miss socializing and seeing someone besides my boyfriend (still love seeing him though). Here are some of the things that have really improved my working from home experience:
Phone Stand
This is one of those items that doesn’t feel like a necessity until you have one, but once you do, it changes the game. It’s made it a lot easier for me to see if I’m getting a call from my boss, without turning the ringer on, and if you have a phone that uses your face to unlock it, it makes it much easier to unlock your phone & quickly read a notification than picking it up.
Wireless Keyboard & Mouse
If you’re someone who refuses to spend the money & only wants to use what your workplace provides you with, I strongly encourage you to just spend the money. A wireless keyboard & mouse not only make your desktop more “customizable” – by this, I mean I like to sit in weird poses while I work – and makes it much more comfortable than yanking on a stuck coard all day. Trust me, you can get wireless products on Amazon for next to nothing.
Live Plants
Seems pretty simple – add some plants to your workspace. Not only does it make the area feel more alive, but it’s always very satisfying to watch them grow. You guys know I’ve become a bit of a plant lady over the summer, and I’ve gone from just outdoor plants to having many indoor ones. I like to keep plants in my workspace to add some colour & life, and quite frankly, give me something to look at besides a blank wall when I’m thinking.
Noise Cancelling Headphones
This is an absolute must if you have a partner, or kids, or even animals who can be noisy while you’re trying to listen in on your zoom call, or conference. While you can opt to go with a cheaper pair, if this is something you want to use for more than just work stuff, and maybe want to put them to use when we’re allowed to travel again, I’d suggest investing in a good pair. When I flew to Hawai’i, they were a lifesaver on the plane so I didn’t have to listen to awful humming noises the plane made the entire time.
Blue Light Glasses
Lastly, the item I constantly rave about - blue light glasses. Honestly, if you haven’t gotten them at this point, just do it, okay? The worst case scenario is that blue light isn’t really that bad for our eyes, since the science is still out on that decision, but I can promise you’ll feel a huge difference in eye strain when you wear these regularly. I used to get some weird eye strain and when I finally had enough, and bought the blue glasses, I haven’t had it since. So, like I said – just do it!
What are your work-from-home staple items? I always am open to finding more things that will make my life a bit easier when it comes to working – I’m a big fan of efficiency. So, if you have any recommendations, leave a comment below! If not, see you again on Friday for a new post!
