Affordable Secret Santa Ideas for 2024

Tis the season for not knowing what to buy for your Secret Santa! If you’ve ever participated in a Secret Santa at work, or in your family or friends group before, you know finding a gift can sometimes be cause for pulling your hair out. But, don’t worry, I’m here to give you some tips! So far this season, I’ve created a 2024 Canadian Small Shop Holiday Gift Guide, a 2024 Holiday Gift Guide for Her, a 2024 Holiday Gift Guide for Him, a 2024 Holiday Gift Guide for Pets and of course, 2024 Stocking Stuffer Gift Ideas and now I am back to give you a guide to some affordable Secret Santa presents for him & for her (and of course, those gifts can apply to whoever you think will love them, regardless of how they identify!)

If you’re participating in a Secret Santa gift exchange, it can be really difficult to find something that you think your recipient will like & use, and also fits within the designated budget. I’ve been apart of some gift exchanges in previous jobs where the spending limit was anywhere between $15 and $20, and some of those gift exchanges have not necessarily included pulling a name out of a hat and having a specific person to buy for.

GENERIC IS BEST!

If you are struggling with what to buy, especially if this is more of a white elephant type of gift exchange, just remember that generic is best! Gender neutral socks, gloves/mittens, toques and reusable bags make for a great gift that are almost always under a $20 threshold. Another great option is unscented hand sanitizers – more and more people like to carry these things around!

BUT IF YOU’RE ON A PERSONAL LEVEL…

You may end up pulling your work friend’s name out of a hat for Secret Santa this year, and if you do, that can definitely work in your favour. Whether you know they love coffee, tea, a specific scent (I.e. a nice scented candle), or you’re familiar with their beauty/wellness routines and tech accessories, mini sizes of their favourite products, or even a new case for their ear phones all make for great gift ideas that easily cost less than $20.

I hope this blog gave you some ideas for what you can get to throw into a Secret Santa gift exchange this holiday season. If you have any other cool gift ideas for these type of exchanges, drop them in the comments below so we can all get new ideas going!

Until next time... Emily
