6 of the Best Moments of 2021

Although it’s undeniable that the last 22 months have been challenging, emotional & downright depressing, when taking a look back on the year of 2021, I started to think about some of the positive, uplifting & joyous moments that I got to experience this last year and I thought why not share some of those moments with you? We’ve all been bombarded with negative story after negative story, so I think we could all use a little joy, and a little reminder that even though it’s been hard, there are still great memories that lie in 2020 and 2021 — let’s get started.

01. WE GOT ENGAGED

Probably one of the biggest highlights of 2021 for me was that my partner of ten years (yes, TEN years) and I finally got engaged. I wrote a whole blog post about it, so if you want to check it out, you can read it here. I’ve been looking forward to this moment for a long time, so it was a great feeling for it to have finally come!

02. FREDDIE TURNED ONE!

Though I have to admit this one was a little bittersweet, celebrating Freddie’s very first birthday (and his first anniversary of being home with us in November) was definitely a bright note in 2021. Me being the crazy dog mom that I am, I obviously went all out on his birthday party & you can check out that blog here.

03. GOT VACCINATED

Yes, I’m pro-vaccine, so if you’re not, this may not be the blog for you. It was a huge moment to be able to get not only my first & second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, but also my booster shot in 2021. It was definitely an emotional moment after watching someone I love lose multiple people in their life to this virus. Please, get vaccinated.

04. STARTED PLANNING OUR WEDDING

I have to admit, when we first settled on a 2022 date for our wedding, I was pretty much expecting to either have to push the date back, or we’d be forced to do something small & low key at City Hall since the pandemic pushed back so many 2020 weddings to 2021 (did you know 2021 was one of the busiest wedding years, ever?!), so when we were able to get our ideal venue, I was thrilled to get the ball rolling. Read more about where we’re at with our wedding planning here.

05. DID MY FIRST PAID PARTNERSHIP

I was so, so excited to make & maintain some wonderful new connections with a few small businesses over Instagram in 2021, and even got to do my first paid partnership! I’ve since done a few more, and I must say, content creators are hard workers, but it is truly so, so much fun.

06. HAD OUR FIRST FAMILY CELEBRATION SINCE THE PANDEMIC

I of course, had to end this blog on a really special one, and that was finally being able to get together for Thanksgiving with family this year. I missed seeing our families, eating delicious meals & enjoying the season that we missed out on in 2020. It was nice to feel a little sense of normalcy again. Though the holiday season was ruined by the new Omicron variant, I have high hopes that 2022 is the year this pandemic bites it.

What were some of your highlights of 2021? Feel free to share them in the comments below! I know the last few years have been hard, but it’s been so helpful for me to think of all of the good things that have happened too — once again, happy 2022 everyone!
